CC DeVille would be a guitar legend if he spent half the time playing his guitar as he did trying to look like a chick.
My point exactly. I meant to mention Poison as posers who actually broke through. Warrant might be another. (By the way, Warrant opened for us [Letchen Grey] at our headlining gigs on several occasions back in the day).

Musically, my favorites right off the top of my head were Ratt, Great White, Guns & Roses, Skid Row....that's it after 30 seconds or so.

Agreed. And Eyesore, you and I havent been posting a lot lately, and I dropped the rude asshole thing a while ago. You obviously havent. Good thing they made you a moderator, now you can put your asshole opinion wherever you like. Just do me a favor and try your best to ignore me, your comments mean nothing to me and will be disregarded.

For the record, I wasn't being an asshole in this thread at all. If you're offended because I defended myself against your comment that I was somehow disrespecting you and your brother then you shouldn't have made the comment.

This forum is for discussions, I was having a discussion. If you can't handle a differing opinion maybe you shouldn't post on discussion forums then.

That is total bull shit. You came out on the offensive and totally made it personal. If you can't argue subjectively and have to make it into a personal affair then you make a poor argument. I can admit that I've made some hypocritical remarks in the past, and I've done my best to try to smooth them over. But you are unwilling to ever admit any fault in the way you go about things and are totally unrepentant of your attacks. I don't look for a fight with you, but one always seems to develop. If you could just keep your argument focused on music then we wouldnt be having this discussion.

You have no idea who I am or what I'm like, so for you to make all of these personal judgements is a fucking joke, to use your own words.

So I'll say it one last time. Image is absolutely unimportant in music. If you think it is, then thats fine. I disagree with you. And you can argue about the philosophy about posers until youre blue in the face, it won't matter. Most metal heads can recognize a poser when they see one. And having an absolute definition is worthless, there are so many varieties of poser that it is impossible for anyone to narrow it down. At its most base form a poser is someone ungenuine. I don't have to wear "Hot Topic" shirts, as you say, to be a metal head. I am one. My musical tastes are what define me as a metal head, not what shirts I wear. But I sure as hell don't have to pretend to be one. I don't consciously think about wearing a Maiden T-shirt so everyone can see that I'm trying to be a bad ass. I fucking love Iron Maiden, I love wearing Denim jackets, and I love wearing bullet belts. I do it because thats how I like to dress. So if that to you is being a poser then I could care less. So hopefully you wont be as much of an asshole this time when you respond, you're first and second responses to my image comment were both pretty shitty. And don't use the "I was defending my argument" response. That has worn thin. So if youre best defense is offense, then you need to rethink your strategy.

I never attacked you in any way whatsoever. I used you as an example to prove my point. My reaction to your comment about me disrespecting you and your brother could have been nicer, or worded better, so for that I apologize. But I have not gone out of my way to attack you at all.

Did you actually read anything I said before? Please go back and re-read it without first thinking it's a personal attack! I never called you a poser, I never insulted you! I questioned your logic. I did this because it doesn't make sense to me. By your statement of "metalheads dress like metalheads" and your poser comments, I am a poser, NESS is a poser, Adam is a poser, and so on and so forth. Clearly we are not posers.

It is amazing that you have spent so much time and energy in this thread. You hardly ever write more than a sentence or two; yet here you are claiming that image doesn't matter, but essentially writing more than you ever have on this forum...defending your image!

So is image important or not? Or could it possibly be that your assumptions on image versus music is based more on your personal tastes, and opinions of an era or certain bands?

I am going to start a shit storm here but fuck it. You know what Holy Terror.......You, almost 26 years after the fact ranting on and on about a single sexist song that sounds exactly like any Dokken from that time might make you a poser. You dis everyone for what they listen too, what they like, if they aren't being true and shit, and for damn sure I know you would rag on people for being huge Dokken fans but if you LIKE it and it sounds like Dokken with bad production (No offence Blackmore dude because I totally dug that song only second to the Warlord on MM3)then you annoit it a "true" band, bullshit. I heard that song easily 24 years ago if not longer so who is true or not? You HM kids that discover shit on the internet and proclaim yourselves holier then thou or those of us that have been digging it for eons and still like Edguy? Just like with your whole stupid Dragonforce rant you make you and your kind look ignorant and that is what it truely wrong with Metal.

And Ken, you dare call me an Elitest? lol. Anyways, nice to see you ragging on someone else besides me, but seriously, I can take you any day of the week but these fucking ultra oh so serious metal heads like HT drive me insane. i just honestly don't undestand how this has to be a "lifestyle" to mean you enjoy it. I mean shit, if I was into SnM I wouldn't walk the fucking street wearing a gimp mask and cock ring.

I think this whole thing kicked off with Eyesore missing someone's point:
Dress however the fuck you want. Wearing denim and bandshirts doesn't make you a poser. Neither does wearing eyeliner (it just makes you a fag  ).

However; the bands who put on eyeliner and feather boas in the 80s before learning how to play their instruments - people who wanted to be rock stars rather than musicians - were indeed posers. They wanted to be on MTV and score with legions of slags more than they wanted to play music. They dressed the way the bands who were selling records were in hope of catching the eye before the ear.

So yeah, Poison were posers of the highest degree. Skid Row, for example, weren't.

This has all been some interesting reading, and in the end, I definitely concur with leee. You know what being true metal is? It's when leee, who has gotten into some seriously heated debates with Eyesore, still manages to publicly take his side when they do happen to agree on some points :dio:

"You HM kids that discover shit on the internet and proclaim yourselves holier then thou"

+1000 :D

That is because Ken and I get each others points wether we agree or not. He wasn't being insulting anyways with the picture, he was just making a point. For christ sakes the guy put mine up with my ex and called me Metal Pussy, if I can take that for sure HT can take a picture of him and his brother in their metal armor to make a point about "dressing the part".

But would you ever expect HT to admit that?

Holy Shit, talk about missing the point. I said I liked the Sexist song. I thought it was really really GOOD. I never mentioned Edguy or Dragonforce in this post. This whole thing started over image being important not whether the Sexist song was good. I wonder if you evern read any of the posts. You just saw another argument between Eyesore and myself and figured you'd throw in your lot.

Nothing you just wrote about has any place in this argument. Nice going. You've achieved absolute irrelevance.

I don't need to. I said a few replies back that you should re-read what I wrote without going into it thinking I was attacking you. And I believe I've probably written more to elaborate on it since.

I read through them and I still don't see the point you were trying to make. SO I guess thats that.
I always thought (and no offence to the dude) that Robbie Blackmore was like the most unmetal name of all time, even as a kid it cracked me up. HT is right though, that [sexist] songs kicks so much ass.
No offense taken whatsoever, I just found it curious while watching the rockumentary on Metallica last night..."Some Kind of Monster" (great flick, by the way). Anyway I get to thinking about James Hetfield's name, that it sounds like a 19th century President's name.

Then, for whatever reason, I remembered what leee had written about my name. And I thought, HHhhmmm....this guy is most likely a Metallica fan...I wonder what he thinks about the name "James Hetfield"

Again, no offense taken...just curious.

I'll tell ya what's offensive  the fact that I can't get the silly quote box to come up on my posts. It works on other forums I'm a member of. So I know I'm doing it right.

Sheeesh!
