Your opinion should change, cause mine has :P

This is pretty fucking good. The Talisman kicks alot of ass. Though the album doesn't sound quite as deliberate as AMOLAD, it has some songs on it that the best on AMOLAD doesn't have a chance against. I'm fucking happy that this isn't as bad as I though it would be.

Good album, their last couple have been hit and miss for me but I do like this more.

Some encouraging signs and two more days to go for me. My off is on 16th, so will rush to the record store to get it. Hopefully, it will be there by then. My expectations are increasing.

Well... Expect it to be a grower..

They're mixing things up a bit here, and I haven't heard as "complex" as this in forever, and that kind of dazzled me. It's a nice surprise however, and this is getting better and better with each listen. This is Iron Maiden, expect to be hooked like a motherfucker on most tracks.

I gave it another go again yesterday and it still makes me cringe to listen to most of it. I love my Maiden too, they've been my favorite band since I was a teenager. Oh well, I'll reside as one of the oddballs that just finds this one to be a big disappointment I guess.

Yep, cringe. I'm sorry that I can't find the brilliance in it as most of you can. What's ffs?

Listened to it a couple of times, and the only effect it had on me was to make me go back and find my copy of A Matter of Life and Death again. Not quite sure what to make of TFF yet. Hmm. :S

No offense intended to anyone here, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I have to ask, what is with all of the AMOLAD love here? I thought it was a very bland release.

I'm on Isle of Avalon, and so far TFF kicks AMOLAD's ass, despite a mediocre start (the title track)

I haven't been online on this forum for almost 2 years but I just logged in to say that I'm deeply moved by The Final Frontier and I feel proud just to be listening to it. As one reviewer said on another website "It’s a great time to be an Iron Maiden fan – but then again, it always has been..."

Honestly, this is an awesome album. I'm debating whether I think this is the best of their "reunion" years. When the dust settles, it probably won't be, but it has a fighting chance.

And I agree with metal_xxx - The Talisman kicks unbelievable ass.

Is this their final album? All the 'farewell... one last goodbye to my friends' stuff on the opening track makes it seem that way, let alone the title.

They haven't said anything or at least they haven't like the Scorpions have.

The whole album seems to have that kind of vibe.

When The Wild Wind Blows =

That song is awesome...

And, Harris has said since the 80's that he aimed for 15 albums. This is their 15th album. However, in a recent interview, he stated that they would tour a couple of years with this one, and then decide if they'd make another one or not. In other words, nothing is settled just yet.

Having listened to the whole thing, I must say that, WTWWB aside, I'm much closer to Raven's opinion than Atreides'. This isn't nearly as wacky and progressive as was hyped, in fact a lot of it could be said to be Maiden-by-numbers. Bruce's voice seems to be struggling at times, too. What can I say, I hope it's a grower.

I can think of 5 that beats TCDR:

The Talisman
When The Wild Wind Blows
El Dorado
Mother Of Mercy
Coming Home
