I don't like High on Fire.

Definitely not for me.

Fair enough. What about Sleep, ever listen to any of their stuff?

Never heard of them.

Where would be a good place to start?

Sleep's Holy Mountain

Its classic stoner doom, very Sabbath-y. I think you'll like it. If you dig it, go for Dopesmoker next.

Black Fate - Commander of Fate
I liked this, but it seemed a little too plain for me. It didn't kick enough ass, if you know what I mean... Will need to give it a few more spins.

Black Hole - Land of Mystery
pretty damn good shit right here! not the best bit of doom I have ever hear, but still pretty damn good. will give another spin and probably check out more of these guys, if there is more...

Heir Apparent - Graceful Inheritence
same as Black Fate, cool and I liked it, but all too samey and plain. the last 2 songs did kick all kinds of ass though, that's what I want people old school heavy metal that kicks ass!

The Obsessed - The Obsessed
now we are talking! this is awesome, and I think doom is may turn out to be a new top genre for me. this is all kinds of awesome. Tombstone Highway :dio: Fear Child :dio: :dio:

Pentagram - Relentless
amazing! where the hell has this been my life? so awesome. fuckin doom man, so awesome.

Saint Vitus - Saint Vitus
except for the fact that the drums are so low and kinda hard to hear at times, this is a classic album. just like The Obsessed and Pentagram, Saint Vitus fucking rule.

continuing to make my way through all of the recommendations... as I said before, I am just doing the older bands first. so stuff from the 90's or 2000's I am ignoring for now.

thanks again!

bump

more doom!

I love Pentagram. Their 70s stuff is amazing. Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, etc... all awesome.

I want more older sounding stuff, whether the band is old or not I don't care. I just want/need more songs like Forever My Queen.

I am also chcking out some other bands that I overlooked last time, like Northwinds and Earthride. Adam, you know your doom. Must of been all that time looking at naked gladiator men in Turkish prisons.
