Am I the only one to really like A Gift or a Curse? Schaffer really shines as a lead singer on that one, I wish he sang more. He's got a cool voice.

Didn't Schaffer also sing the verses in the song Burnt Offerings?

I know he did some of the vocal interplay in High Water Mark.

And he also sings Stormrider, even in concerts.

Thats correct Jon can have a very harsh voice. Also after hearing this Matt is still better then Tim for Iced Earth. He simply fits better; however Tim has Beyond Fear which in itself is very well done. It shows of the talent Tim has.

And I too find it ridiculous how a lot of music fans seem to think that, just because they're fans of a band, the band somehow must do everything they want them to do. For example, the way people were saying, "Judas Priest owes it to their fans to bring Rob Halford back" when Tim Owens was in the band. Errr, I'm sorry but JP doesn't owe their fans anything. THEY were the ones who made the music and called the shots. YOU simply liked what they did. Why should they owe you anything? If anything, it's the other way around. The fans owe Judas Priest for making such great music.

The way I see it if it wasn't for the fans bands wouldn't exist because we pay for the music so in a sense bands do owe us if we don't like what we hear we are going to stop buying their music and if you get every fan to do that well then it hurts the band and the record companies.

Bands owe you nothing. Not a damn thing.

Ok so I pay for their lively hood their source of income which most bands usually do so they owe us nothing but then again your opinion usually means jack shit around here these days so roll your eyes at me all you want to Ken your credibility has been shot so I could care less.

Credibility? I am very credible.

Next time you order take-out, I want you to go back to the place the next day and start demanding shit. You'll get your titties stomped into teacups. You buy a pizza, you get a pizza. That's it! You're owed NOTHING else, regardless of whether or not your $12 that bought a pizza last time went toward the livelihood of those working for that pizza parlor.

But that's different right? You'll try to spin it and say it's different when it's EXACTLY the same.

I'd just like to officially state that Metal Reviews unequivocally denies reviewing downloaded music. Since most reviews come out after the release date, the reviewer in question has purchased the music with his own currency, from a shop. Of course, there are exceptions: Season Of Mist has a promo website where the reviewer downloads the MP3s and reviews them. I know you think that you're owed a CD in physical form Ken, but the label owes you nothing godammit nothing. It's like if you went to get a slice of pizza, and the guy behind the counter is having a good day and gives it to you for free, and then you say 'what the fuck, motherfucker? No goddamn napkins?' Ungratefulness.

Of course, if any of you cheapo fucks actually donated something once in a while...

I've been listening to the new album, and i have to say its really good but people who didnt like Framming Armageddon probably arent going to like this one, Matt doesnt change anything, the style is the same, he does an amazing job but so did Ripper and we all know that Iced Earth is Jon and no one else, anyways my favorite tracks right now are Minions Of The Watch, I walk Alone, Crucify the king and come What May.

Matt is excellent on here, truly an amazing performance but i dont think he outdo Owens, theyre both different and i think Tim would have been great on the new album too, some things are better with Matt and some things would have been better with Ripper.

And all of this thing thing about bands owing the fans its complete bullshit and thats not what i meant, anyways i have to give Jon credit because no matter what people say he always maintains a level of honesty with Iced Earth, you can feel that with evry release the man put out his heart and soul into the making.

J'espere que tu fais une blague, monsieur Husker tabernouche la.

So I've listened to this a few times now and I pretty much have the same opinion on it as Framing Armageddon- a solid album that should have been cut down by about 15 minutes and which could benefit from more fast songs. Barlow does a great job- personally, I preferred the Ripper's performance, but I'm just an Owens fanboy, so what can you do?

70/100

I was really disappointed with this album at first, but I'm really starting to like it. Matt is obviously better than Ripper. I'm a bit biased I guess because I hate fucking Tim Owens.

My favourite songs are A Gift or a Curse, I Walk Alone and Come What May.

Hey, I understand how MR works behind the scenes, and it's sometimes necessary. MCDR seems to do it to come off as cool. That's when I've made my comments. If it weren't for the "Hey, this is Clint and my site rules, we just reviewed all these upcoming albums that no one else has...because we rule! Check us out!" threads, I probably wouldn't give you guys shit.

What the hell are you talking about? This is a ridiculous statement!!
I've never downloaded an album - EVER, and I spend hundreds of dollars a month on CDs, as do some of my other reviewers!

Don't assume we downloaded an album just because the review is published before a release date - we get a good amount of promos...
That said, a small portion of our reviews are from downloads (just like EVERY other webzine) and I have no problem with this (as long as the version accurately reflects what will be released), as it's no different than receiving a promo. Plus, it saves the labels/bands time and money to get the promos out.
So I have no problem with my reviewers downloading an album for review purposes...

This is also ridiculus. Those topics (which rarely occur) are to promote the site yes, but are also intended to promote the bands/CDs and to let you guys know what we've reviewed lately. In a way, those topics are just reminders for those who haven't been to the site lately.

Give me a break man...

Ken, let me ask you a simple question (if you can handle that - without going off on a rampage)... do you visit MCDR and find it to be a helpful site for power metal fans?

Lots of words there. First off, I love your site, I visit it all the time. Dead serious. I'm busting your balls, like I always have. I said "give you guys shit," which basically means "bust your balls" (i.e. not serious).

Secondly, you have admitted in the past that reviewers on your site download albums. But again, I never said it was wrong. I simply said it happens. And I love your site, dude.

Everyone takes me so seriously. I can't even use smileys and get away with things. You guys suck!

I see a sexy bitch. Iced Earth's new album is playing in the background.

I've bought more albums this year alone than most of you own.

Not that i don't agree with your point on downloading music, but what's the deal with boasting you spend more money on music than you do on food?Personally, i couldn't care less how much cd's you buy, it does not make you superior or better than somebody else.

You're right, I spend so much time with the site that I take remarks seriously. It's hard for me to be casual on this forum, as there have been so many negative comments before. Perhaps I should take remarks more lightly...

Did I ever imply that I am somehow superior because of my music collection? Draw your own conclusions, but don't apply them to my words.

If I do mention my collection, keep the comment in context.
