I disagree with you, people should have the balls to speak up about anybody they think is not living up to thier legcy and questioning other musicians that never had one, but often get treated like gods. No one has to believe Halford is the world's greatest singer and is beyond criticism, that is a subjective opinion.

People can speak up about anything they want. But who's not living up to their legacy? Halford's doing just fine. The teleprompter comment is just plain ridiculous and a non-factor. A weak attempt at discrediting him.

apparently, a few people disagree. I don't have an opinion because I have yet to see Rob Halford ive and couldn't have seen him in his prime.

Um, apparently you DO have an opinion if you're referencing the notion of people not living up to their legacy. That's a ridiculous implication. Are you 16? You need some respect for your elders too.

No, I wasn't referencing Rob Halford and I believe my opinion is objective enough to discount "legacies" in general. I don't have to have respect for any musician at all if I choose not to. I have more respect for Olaf Thorsen than an member of Judas Preist, for instance, but that doesn't make me stupid. One just had more impact on me personally than another. I don't want to get into the "what if's" accociated with some musicians never existing, because that has nothing to do with reality, but speculation.

The fact that at least one person voted for retirement proves my point, some people don't think he is living up to his legacy.

16? no. but someone would have to be about 33 years old to have seen Judas Priest on thier Painkiller tour wen they were 16, if anyone was any younger seeing them, then they would have to ely on the perceptions of a child, rather than thier own objectivity of how it was. (the old quote "never rely on the perception of a child" being yourself)

Just take a look at Tim Owens here

Great performance...way better than Rob could pull it off today. Tim also remembers all lyrics and is not addicted to teleprompter and thereby is a way better front figure than Rob

Oh geez a teleprompter oh noooooooooooes he should retire tell you what guys when you make hundreds of songs and are his age let's see how much you can remember especially stuff that is like what 20-25 years old

I don't see anyone else using teleprompters to Halford's extent. And yes, it comes off as lazy not to remeber your own lyrics. Unless he has alzeimers, hecan't use his age as an excuse.

I didn't say I wanted him to retire, I just wish he would put more effort in. I'm sure that even at "his age" he could easily remember the lyrics if he tried to. I just think he has become too comfortable to be bothered.

Along with Manowar, Halford helped to bring the gay porn characture look into metal. Maiden brought us the Wrestlemania look to metal.

I have no idea what this means, or what it has to do with telepromptors. Is the fact that Halford's gay what is fueling your obvious distaste for him? Clearly you have some issue with him.

It means he really jacks off to photos of Rob Halford and that infamous Manowar cover.

No, I don't know why Flick thinks all this equates to Rob Halford hate, maybe that's what his brain wants to interpret all this as meaning.

No, I don't jerk off to it, but I think the Village people biker image and dressing like a damn fully armored medieval warrior is a fun image for metal to cultivate.

Almost every metalhead knows "Breaking the Law", but Rob who has sung that song thousands of times and probably sung it on every JP tour still has to rely on a teleprompter. That would be very wierd in case he would not have catched some illness...

I agree from what I've seen live he lacks the punch he used to vocally... But he's an old man. He does the best he can, and from what I've seen he tries to get into it with the audience.

I don't feel he should retire. If Priest feels up to making albums and touring then I don't see why they should stop. Angel of Retribution was a great album.

They're now saying sometime in March.

Well, you just said it yourself, forgot what you wrote yourself? ;)

Rob is holding the band back. He does not have the same great voice as before and he is old man just lacking any charisma that has to rely 100% on teleprompters. I think it was a big misstake to kick Tim Owens who both had the voice and charisma which Rob unfortunately do not have anymore.

Rob is not holding the band back. Rob / Tipton / Downing ARE the band. And always will be. I'd rather they quit with Halford at 70% of his former self, than replace him because of the notion that he's lost it and is no longer worthy to front them. He does not have the same voice as before? No kidding. Who keeps the same voice after 35 years?

He does not rely 100% on teleprompters - that's absolute bullshit. And you keep harping on charisma - JP / Halford were never about delivering a monster dose of charisma. They were about Rob's godlike voice and kick ass NWOBHM tunes. His voice isn't what it once was, but I'll still take it over many other voices. I have nothing against Ripper, but he should make a name for himself in his own band - you can't do that in a legendary band like Priest.

I get it - you don't like Halford. But the teleprompter exaggeration and whining about his voice and charisma not being the same is ridiculous. And I'm going to rebut it every single time you bring it up.

I can't believe this thread's at page 3. The plain answer is no, there's no need for adding anything else.

Curse you all. This thread made me have a dream where I saw Judas Priest live and Halford had Alzhemer's and fell off the stage. Bastards.
