Seriously though Kenneth, what was the point of this thread?

Your mission statement was "this is the album of the year and if you don't agree you're just saying that because its Trivium." How can anyone possibly post reasonably in this thread if they happen to disagree with you?

I only whine to you anyways because I know I can get a 20 page rant out of you in a matter of seconds and it gives me something fun to do.....

So far I am an elitest because I didn't by Poets and Madman from Savatage, I think a Europe reunion borders on insanity and people caring about it is distrubing and I didn't dig the new Trivium song because it just isn't that good.....some case their Kenny G.

As Radagast later pointed out, I was only saying that the singer has no talent. That was not a cheap shot at the whole band. I wasnt attacking them at all, and plain and simple, there is much better bands out there and Trivium just doesnt offer up enough to make them stand out as agreat band, and while I have not listened to the whole album, and I probably won't, I have a hard time beleiving it is an album of the year candidate. Can you honestly say that this album stands up against Synchestra or the New Black or the new Agalloch, or Enslaved-RUUN, or a whole load of good albums that came out this year. I am not a hater because I think that. You are the one preaching about having more musical discussion based on the merits of the music and then you dismiss a comment that disagrees with you as being a hater.

Friendly disagreeing banter does not include changing the story. We can argue on opposite ends of an opinion all day long, but when you say I said something, or mean something, I did not I'm going to get defensive. I don't find that funny. That's immature.

Personally I would rather this site be a little more lighthearted where we can all talk shit, but some people take things too far.

So a guy goes to some length to explain exactly what it was about the song he didn't a like and all you could do was dismiss him as a 'hater.'

What did I say after I said "hater?" I mean, we should keep this in context, right? He said they had no talent, or the singer had no talent. That's as ridiculous as people saying Dimebag and Zakk Wylde have no talent. (And before anyone says it, no I'm not putting Heafy up there with those two.)

All I'm saying is that you can dislike a band all you want, but saying things like they have no talent, when they clearly do, is just plaing hating.

If Metal Maniacs and Terrorizer didn't verbally fellate this band so much, they wouldn't be so popular. They are merely decent, nothing more. This is music for people who don't take music seriously, and only skim the surface. Any true music fan would never listen to this band, for they would have piles of much better CDs to listen to before even thinking about Trivium. They are in the right place, the right time, with a label that spends an obvious boatload to promote them. That doesn't mean they are all that great. Good promotion can make shit seem shiny, kind of like Paris Hilton.

When speaking of professional musicians, talent is a relative term. Does heafy have more singing talent than me? Yes. Does Heafy have more singing talent, in both voice or approach, than even the average metal vocalist? NO! Why am I not allowed to comment on somebody's talent, or lack thereof? If you read my initial post you will see that I gave reasons behind my statements. I did not come out and scream that Trivium suck. I expanded on why they suck. Maybe later we can all talk about how hard they suck and exactly what they suck. Either way, it all kinda sucks. I did, however, in my initial post, say that they didnt suck as much as some others.

Well you can think they suck all you want. Shit, I thought they pretty much sucked up until this album because I think Heafy's screams don't fit the music.

Regardless, saying this band, any facet of it, has no talent is baseless. The band is talented, very talented, in fact. You just don't like them so you're not being objective, which is fine, that's your choice.
