I only have "Be" by Pain of Salvation, and I frankly don't know what to think of it. I once heard a guy say that it was an awesome concept, but that that concept became so important that the musical quality became lacking because of it. Something like that, and I kind of see what his trying to say. I do need to listen to it more though, Ive only like played it 7-8 times.

While Be is a great album it is probably the worst starting point for PoS. Entropia is a good place to start I think. My first PoS was The Perfect Element. Their first two albums are teh easiest to get into quickly. Check out songs like "Stress" and "!Forward" and "Water"

I loved Be the first time I heard it too. I just figured it might not be a good starting place to get a real feel of the band. Do you own any other PoS?

That sounds like you have all of their albums. Which songs do you prefer? The earlier albums like Entropia, and OHBTCL, are more tech, while the later albums are more emotional. I tend to listen to entropia the most and Remedy Lane the least. Everything else is just about equal to me. I do really enjoy Be when i am in the right mood.

Forard, Stress, and Revival on Entropia are all awesome. Gildenlow really takes over in these tracks. Oblivion Ocean is a nice slow track, too.

IMO the live double album Vroom Vroom is the best album to get into them with. It covers all of their stuff well, the double trio is loud/heavy as fuck and Adrian Belew is imo the best singer KC has had.

Adramelch's album Irae Meloncolix...is one of the greatest prog metal albums ever and was wayy ahead of its time. This gets my vote.

In The Court of the Crimson King is so overrated, I only really like the first and the last songs off of it. Red, Larks's Tongues in Aspic, Discipline and Thrak are way better =)

In the Wake of Poseidon is my favorite King Crimson. Greg Lake from ELP does vocals on it. ITs totally bad ass.
