There was a rumour here about PF too, but unfortunately we got that horrible pop-rock romanian band. I'd settle for Axxis anytime.
I was secretely hoping for someone like Savage Circus, I imagine they'll be willing to tour after their debut and I think Piet and the Helloween guys are friends.

Stupid Antract are confirmed.

I Want Out is one of metal's best songs. Even to this day. How can some of you not like it is beyond me.

Now that's just insane. I mean, I can grow to like it...but one of Metal's best songs? Helloween has written some of those, but I wouldn't put I Want Out on the list.Oh well, no accounting for taste and so on.

I prefer the first one, it has more good songs and is more consistent. I think the second one is "uneven" as Radical Cut said before.

The Keepers are original and brought something new to music, created a genre more or less...But you can always build upon and improve on the original masterpieces...(hint: TDR!)

As for Deris not holding a candle to Kiske, I strongly disagree to that, Deris is a unique and good singer with a personal voice and a great range. Deris can sing songs like liar, and can pull off Eagle Fly Free very well also, but I wonder how Kiske would fair on Liar. Anyway, I think comparing them dont lead anywhere, they are both great but different.

I agree, comparing them is kind of pointless. They are both great and very different, but Deris just has a very weird voice and it's hard for me to get into it directly after listening to Kiske's vocals which are...cleaner I guess.

@ the666th: At the time of my post I looked up the official Helloween site and THERE WERE NO OPENING ACTS CONFIRMED THERE... after that I looked up the local (romanian) webpages of the event and there I read: ...STUPID Antract..... man they used to be something ( I remember seeing them opening for Metallica in '99 and remember having lots of fun )... but nowadays...just NO!

And somebody earlier mentioned Deris singing Eagle Fly Free: look man, I love Deris's voice on his songs, and am eternally grateful to him for keeping Helloween METAL, but singing that particular song (or any Kiske era songs, for that matter) is not going to strenghten my love for him ... He butchers this song on any ocassion (from High Live to the Shaman DVD where he sings it with Matos)... Those songs were not written for his voice and he cannot sing them properly (sure he can hit a few high notes, but he doesn't have the fluidity and passion when singing them ...it's clear he struggles ... Just listen to Kiske singing We Got The Right live...same passion and power as on the album). And if we are at this point, Kiske sung the Hansen songs much better. He improved the singing. Listen on the same album to How Many Tears... Brings up tears in the corner of my eyes :).... so, to conclude: Deris is an excellent singer, versatile, unique, gruffy, but Kiske...well, Kiske WAS a god :):):) @stub: yes,yes I know your opinion on this one hehehe

Agreed. Although, truthfully, I did find most of the songs on TDR to be more serious and crunchy than on previous Helloweens. The only real "joke song"was Mr. Torture, and even that was given a slightly harsher sound thanks to the more abrasive guitars. Then we get to Escalation 666 and Mirror Mirror, which are probably two of the most serious songs Helloween has ever written. The "happiness" factor does pick up again on songs like Salvation. But for the most part, The Dark Ride's music does have a more serious and heavy sound than other Helloween records. You could almost call it "The happiest 'sad power metal album' ever released."

Im not sure id call Mr. Torture a joke song. If you look underneath the surface and the at times funny lyrics, you find that you are facing a serious philosophical problem/question. Basically, the song hides a darker message within it.

And what is happy about Salvation? Yeah sure it's "happy" but not in the sense that it's humorous. I dont see it as being even slightly humorous, and the fact that it's a song about paradise doesn't imo make it happy. You get the feeling that they mean everything they say on that song if you know what i mean.
