Ok, heres what I have listened to out of all the recomendations:

Omen - Warning of Danger
awesome! pretty much what I was looking for. Not all songs on the album kick ass, but most do.

Candlemass - Nightfall
my 4th Candlemass albu, and they have yet to dissapoint. I think this may be the best of theirs I have heard, and maybe the best suggestion that I have listened to.

Count Raven - Storm Warning
pretty cool, but I found myself a little bored with it at time. It will definitely take a few more listens to sink in.

Solitude Aeturnus - Into the Depths of Sorrow
slooooooowwww, but heavy as hell. I listened to this late at night, so I don't remember it that well. But from what I do remember, it was awesome. Need oto give it another spin.

will continue to work my way through the suggestions. I am trying to get the older bands out of the way before I work on the newer bands... (Saintsbleed etc...)

After I finish the list, I'll post about what I really liked and what didn't do much for me.

Thanks again, fuckers.

Sortilege. Great rockin heavy metal. Really, really, really good. Also I have to second the Pagan Altar recommendation, I would add to the Pagan Altar persuasion with Ritual's "Black Widow".

But if you just want some awesome blazing heavy metal, you're best best is to listen to Agent Steel's "Unstoppable Force", but something tells me Walnut has this already.

Sortilege is a band I see you talk about a lot, will definitely check them out.

Pagan Altar is on my list.

As for Agent Steel, you know me better then I thought.

Sortilege is definitely a band you should check: awesome axe work, and totally over the top singer...and great songs...and they only have 2 albums and one ep. They play lyrical heavy metal, with some songs bordering on speed metal, and also some nwobhm influences(especially on the debut ep).
The other french band you shouldn't miss is ADX: awesome speed metal, especially the debut(Execution) from 85. The 2nd and 3rd album are more halfway between heavy metal and speed metal, but equally awesome. The guitar work in ADX is totally kick ass.

I'd recommend Blaspheme's 2nd album over the debut actually.

well , the 1st one is fun but a bit underdeveloped; Desir de Vampyr is more mature, and more dark and evil...more metal, actually.

"Si je peux, si je veux etre chauve souris,
Peur de la lumiere, et vivre la nuit,
Si je peux, si je veux, damner les maudits,
Peur de la lumiere, et pousser des cris!" :dio: :dio: :dio:

It also have some ridiculous tracks ("Seul") and some silly lyrics :

"Chanteur au pénis entier
Connaissant la mesure
Les femmes qui veulent essayer
Je suis à leurs pointures
"

Plus, it's mellower than the ST and the riffs are just not as good.

i totally disagree with this. I think "Seul" is actually one of the best songs. Also, this album mellower than the st? No Way! It's more powerfull, and darker.
Aside from this, the st is a very good album in its own right.

If you like the band Satan, and I believe you do, have you checked out their one album project Blind Fury? So awesome. More melodic riffing and singing on the metal tracks, and some of other songs have a more hard rock vibe too Check these out:

Have you ever checked out High on Fire? I'd recommend the albums Blessed Black Wings and The Art of Self Defense. You might enjoy it.

The riffs? The doom influence? The heavy metal influence? There's no helping some people.

Never heard of them.

Where would be a good place to start?

Imho, Sleep's too stoner for your taste but, if you really wanna try 'em, "Sleep's Holy Mountain" is a good place to start.
