Fear is the key and the apparition is the worst maiden songs ever.

And Weekend Warrior. All Maiden's worst songs are on Fear of the Dark.

Which makes it strange that it also contains some of their best, like the title track and Judas My Guide.

Hey you! Me likey Weekend Warrior!
Granted it's not Maiden's best song but it's a good song nonetheless.

I guess I maybe like it in a "so stupid it's kinda good?" sort of way. But really, its a bit crap.

Judas be my guide, childhoods end, fear of the dark, the fugitive are all very good songs.

Don't forget Afraid to Shoot Strangers! The beginning is a bit boring, but those leads and solos are fantastic.

I really hate Chains of misery, Fear is the key & The apparition. Crap songs.
The rest are between poor-acceptable (Weekend warrior, be Quick or be death) and great songs (Judas be my guide, afraid to shoot strangers) with Fear of the dark being one of the best songs in all Maiden's discography. I think that's the reason FotD is far better than NPftD, NPfthD has some good songs, some poor ones, but any great song.

Be Quick Or Be Dead and From Here To Eternity are great Iron Maiden's singles... I love Wasting Love too... And I disagree on Judas Be My Guide, can't stand this song...

oh shut up you:P

Wasting love is quite nice...

No prayer for the dying has a handful of songs ranging from average to good.. Most of it is ruined by Dickinson's vocals imo. Holy smoke is fun, hooks in you is fun... Public enemy number one is probably my favourite. Mother russia is pretty good too.

I like Holy Smoke and Bring Your Daughter best... True that Bruce wasn't in his best vocal form but, imo, the main problem was the "garagey" production that didn't fit Maiden's style.

Hit.

Incomprehensible to me that this could ever be considered otherwise. I have no choice but to assume that "miss" vote was a typo or a prank.

The most retarded poll ever made in the history of metal. Anyone thinking otherwise can go give it to a goat. As for buying it, always give it listen and... listen for yourself, for fuck sake's!

So this album is my number one favorite IM album ever. The Long Distance Runner is an amazing song.

That's the one I had an argument with some Scottish people about, they all hated it haha. I think it's great.

How can you hate it? Those are some of the best melodies that Iron Maiden ever wrote- particularly that one at around the 2:20 mark.

I was listening to this one to and from work today, actually, and one thing I noticed is how many time it gave you goosebumps- you know, that amazing feeling when a great piece of music affects your entire body. It seemed like nearly every song had one of those goosebump moments, and Loneliness had a few.

To quote them:

"It's a boring song about boring things."

Imagine that in a Scottish accent of course, I was like "Um, I like it...I really think that um....Nice guitar bits?" And subsequently I got pwned.

I think SIT is the only Maiden album which has no weak song. Maybe there is no "Run to the Hills" or "The Trooper" or 2 Minutes to Midnight", but EVERY song is great!

The other albums do have some weak tracks (like Running Free, Drifter, Different World, The Wicker Man, Wildest Dreams, Moonchild, Face in the Sand, the whole Blaze Bayley era... ) but not Somewhere in Time. From "Caught Somewhere In Time" to "Alexander the Great" - every song is just incredible.

It's IMO the BEST Iron Maiden album!
