I also do think that Nightfall is one of their worse albums. I use to be a huge fan, now I can't listen to them much but I will give this new one a shot. Hopefully it will be good. I don't wanna spoil it with voice overs. This will be my second shot at getting back into power metal. :D

Getting back isn't the right word, adding it to my already wide genre list is more like it.

Nightfall's a great album, but ANATO just destroys it. Those interludes in Nightfall are several too many, and some of the songs are actually just plain weak.

Of course, NIME and ANATO are the *GSAP* the only Blind Guardian albums I have so far. I'll need to get moooore.

This one sounds incredibly promising. I can't wait for it. :D

wow...I guess I'm the only one who feels that Nightfall is amazing. It was the first BG album I heard and it blew me away. Of course I am a huge fan of all their stuff...so don't get me wrong. I love ANATO, but to each his own. I am really looking forward to the new album though. FLY didn't give me enough of the picture...I'm going to need to hear more.

Eyesore...the album is coming along nicely. If you still like the first album, you should like the new one. Almost all the vocals are done leaving mainly guitars left to be done. We're looking forward to getting it out as soon as we can. Look for it to hit around October...at least that's the plan.

I must download this and put it on my MP3 player before my day off finishes, lest my next two weeks suck ass due to anticipation.

And Nightfall is not only my favourite BG album, but my favourite power metal album. The spoken interludes do suck, though.

Nightfall is great, I just don't think it's their best. I find the interludes to detract from the album.

Nightfall is a good album, but so many interludes and a couple of weak songs. ANATO is great, but it's too much overproduced for my taste. I still find IFTOS as their best work.

Don't buy the new one. It's not as grandiose, but I think it's more or less the stripped down version of the style on ANATO.

My favorite will always be Imaginations, but I enjoyed the heck out of ANATO. I never got why Nightfall was so highly praised but I'm practically a BG fanboy so I don't mind. Looking forward to hearing this, even if it is a promo.

I'm about half way through my second listen now. This is definitely ANATO, but with less voiceovers. It is fucking amazing. It’s as progressive as ANATO and keeps the Blind Guardian Bard feel throughout the entire album. "Turn the Page," "Straight Through the Mirror," "This Will Never End," and "Fly" are my favorite songs so far.

90/100

I essentially agree with metalNESS's take.

11 songs and 50 minutes is bit too many short songs for my liking but other than that this has been a very enjoyable first listen. Many of the solos stood out as being highly enjoyable, and "Turn The Page" is just an excellent, excellent, track. I can't wait to get my hands on this.

"Turn the page" is officially my favorite track on the album.

As for least favorite BG, I'll go with Battalions of Fear followed by NIME. That doesn't mean I don't like (or love) them. They are still amazing albums.

Yeah I won't buy it for sure. That whole orchestrated thing just makes me cringe. Nothing wrong with it just not my thing, just isn't what metal should be for me. If it takes more then 5 guys and 85 vocal layers it just isn't metal to me*

Still not as bad as Rhapsody which is the worst band on earth....:)*

* My opinion only

Well I made Zad leave (which is a good thing*) so I will act human from now on. That has been my goal since I was 27 to make someone leave a message/bulleting board, so I can rest now.

BG is following the same "trend" they set on ANATO... they may have dropped like 128 gazillion tracks but a simple calculus shows us they are left with 120 gazillion tracks for this new one :):) ... It's polished, it's pompous but my ears crave for the agression and passion of IFTOS... I guess I'll never hear Hansi spit out those venomous and raspy vocal lines (even live he butchers the old songs ...already posted my opinions on this matter)... I have nothing against the new BG, I can still appreciate a good band but I guess my expectation lie elsewhere (Savage Circus is pretty ok BUT it's still NO BG in their heydays)
Another problem for me are the guitar leads... they may be technical and stuff...but they don't RIP, are almost always harmonized and don't do anything for me. Again revisit SFB,IFTOS,TFTTW for the "good shit"... So in a nutshell this is a 70-80/100 album IMHO for it does not "touch" me in any special way.... FLAME ON

If Hansi were still spitting out those lines, he wouldn't have a voice anymore. His methods of generating a scream were about as damaging as one could possibly use.

I love the new album. Can't wait to buy it and hear it with its proper sound quality, all of the interior artwork, etc. To me, it's only similar to ANATO in the fact that Charlie obviously produced it, but it's definitely stripped down to a more manageable IFTOS-ish mix (less over-lapping Hansis, choirs reserved mainly for choruses, harmonized guitar leads with 2-3 guitar tones instead of 12). A few songs go back in time a bit, which threw me off since the opening riff of the first track sounds like something unheard of for a decade :D

Overall - AWESOME!!!
