Thanks :P

Seriously, it doesn't seem like there' much going on in the power metal world at the moment. As for me, I have only listened to 1 full new PM album this year (Persuader, which kicks some major ass, and the Blind Guardian single). I have yet to hear that Elvenking album

Anyway, here's a list of PM albums I'm looking forward to this year.

Edenbridge - The Grand Design ( a pretty average band, but they have some sparks of brilliance on every album)

New Iron Savior -(Should have been released in June according to www.metalcovenant.com but I haven't heard anything of it yet....anyway I'm looking forward for some asswhopping speed metal.)

Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth (no comments needed)

New Hammerfall (Their last album was a dissapointment, hopefully this one will be better)

Fairyland - The Fall of an Empire (flower metal that makes Rhapsody sound heavy. Their debut had some killer songs but also some major flaws. I'm hoping for a improvement here.

If you like Fairyland try this ( Hamka ) it has Elisa Martin on vocals

Sample Mp 3's
http://www.hamkaband.com/htm/mp3.htm

Also just got my hands on the new Beyond Twilight - For The Love Of Art And The Making and im now listening to (Blackened In My Eyes) what I have heard i really like...

New Hammerfall (Their last album was a dissapointment, hopefully this one will be better)
Nigga Please , Glory To The Brave and Legacy Of Kings is their best work , the rest you can keep

Awesome!! This is great stuff.

I haven't really been buying that much Power Metal recently... But that'll probably change soon. I'm in the mood for a good Power Metal album or two... or five...

So yeah, I need more Power Metal. :P

Good to see Ken is back!! 8)

Music-wise, the new Terasbetoni just came out and is amazing! Just love this band. Also cant wait to hear new Mercenary. I also love the Cellador album, in some ways more than Dragonforce. Cant wait for new Dionysus. They are just too silent. Anyone has any news? The latest Firewind also is awesome. What is happening with Freedomcall? And also Heavenly? Both these bands rock and owes us albums!! Apparently a new Insania is also forthcoming, cant wait. Agreed with Pyroman, the new Kiuas kicks ass. How is the new Sabaton??

Flying_guitars: Hamka sounded pretty interesting. Better than Dreamaker at least.

As for Hammerfall, I don't expect them to write another Legacy of Kings but I still have some faith left in them.

Eyesore: Nice to see you back in the forums :D However, I'm getting worried about A Twist in the Myth...the Fly single was a small dissapointment for me and this isn't anything mindblowing either.

Blade: FC is writing songs for their new album at the moment. New Dionysus? That's nice! They have some awesome songs on their 2 albums (but also a load of filler..). I have only listened to the new Sabaton once. Not as good as Primo Victoria but still a great album.

Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver...Lance King on vocals with a lot of good riffs. It's a good album to sit and listen to.

Mercenary - heavier than I thought it would be but has a lot of good grooves.

Arwen - Illusions...this album has been rocking me for the last two months since I found it. Not too complicated musically, but vocals are incredible.

Cloudscape - Crimson Skies...I've enjoyed listening to it. Can't say anything really stands out about it for me but it's a good album.

And I know I'm biased...but Suspyre's new album should be coming out in october hopefully. Hopefully, it will turn some heads.

I had a powermetal awakening today. I'd been listening to alot of death metal lately and ignoring my poor power metal collection. Well today I decided to try downloading some Helloween, cause I'm always hearing about how amazing they are but by some stroke of bad luck, the only songs I'd heard before were pretty bad. Probably off one of the crappy later albums I'd heard they put out. Well I downloaded the song "Keeper of the Seven Keys" and it has refreshed my love of power metal. So thats my inspirational story.

We are right here with you. Our bands are just not releasing anything as of yet.
We are waiting for the following:

Wotan- Epos
Virgin Steel- Visions of Eden
Axel Rudi Pell- Mystica
Hammerfall-?
Kamelot-?
Lost Horizon-?
Jag Panzer-?
Domine-?
Heimdall-Aeneid
Theocracy-?
Celesty-?
Fairyland- Fall of Empire
Evil Masquerade- The third act
Lunatica- Edge of Infinity
Firewind- Allegiance
Masterpiece- Colors of conflict

of course the new Blind Guardian and Iron Maiden!

I have noticed a decline in power metalling tho :(
It is still my primary genre and yes I still prefer knights and dragon lyrics for those that despise it :)

Yup, due in October (so really its a year and a half). Whenever a band that normally does an album every two years release two in quick succession, it makes me think they weren't satisfied with the first one.

Last year Primal Fear and Nocturnal Rites released very strong albums after diappointing 2004 offerings, hopefully HammerFall can get back to some sort of form after Chapter V.

Another possible answer is that they want to get back on track with an an album every two year or the nearest equivalent. There were three years between Crimson Thunder and Chapter V because Oskar had a motorcyvle accident in 2004.

Anyway I've been quiet on the old PM front of late because I'm finding less and less time to listen to any music at all, and when I do I tend to make it something I'm not already familar with.

In saying that, here are some bands I've picked up on/been listening to over the last few months:

Silent Force: Wow! Warm, melodic stuff not disimilar to Masterplan. Vocals by DC Cooper and excellent guitar playing by the guy that toured with Primal Fear a few years ago.

Cellador! Yeah, we know about these guys.

Vanden Plas: I know Nessie in particular will love these guys (I'm assuming you've heard of them, chief?). Proggy melodic PM with fancy-dan keyboard work.

Destiny: Never-ending but still underground Swedish trad/power guys that currently have Kriss Gobel (ex-Falconer) on vocals. I picked up their 2004 "Future of the Past" album, and while its nothing spectacular, its a solid album. Fans of Gobel's voice won't be disappointed.

I can't think of anything else, but I've bought a lot of stuff lately. More to follow.
