Surely HammerFall arent releasing a new album already? Chapter V only came out last year :?
Yup, due in October (so really its a year and a half). Whenever a band that normally does an album every two years release two in quick succession, it makes me think they weren't satisfied with the first one.
Last year Primal Fear and Nocturnal Rites released very strong albums after diappointing 2004 offerings, hopefully HammerFall can get back to some sort of form after Chapter V.
Another possible answer is that they want to get back on track with an an album every two year or the nearest equivalent. There were three years between Crimson Thunder and Chapter V because Oskar had a motorcyvle accident in 2004.
Anyway I've been quiet on the old PM front of late because I'm finding less and less time to listen to any music at all, and when I do I tend to make it something I'm not already familar with.
In saying that, here are some bands I've picked up on/been listening to over the last few months:
Silent Force: Wow! Warm, melodic stuff not disimilar to Masterplan. Vocals by DC Cooper and excellent guitar playing by the guy that toured with Primal Fear a few years ago.
Cellador! Yeah, we know about these guys.
Vanden Plas: I know Nessie in particular will love these guys (I'm assuming you've heard of them, chief?). Proggy melodic PM with fancy-dan keyboard work.
Destiny: Never-ending but still underground Swedish trad/power guys that currently have Kriss Gobel (ex-Falconer) on vocals. I picked up their 2004 "Future of the Past" album, and while its nothing spectacular, its a solid album. Fans of Gobel's voice won't be disappointed.
I can't think of anything else, but I've bought a lot of stuff lately. More to follow.
