BTW, I know I might be alone in saying this, but Dance Of Death is my favorite Iron Maiden album. If partially because it was released during a rather emotional time in my life.
Raven will agree... It's a great album, but not my fav.

HIT...
wow...
this is classic stuff.
Every song is great.
my most favorite song is Alexander the Great.
followed by Deja Vu, Heaven Can Wait, Wasted Years, Stranger in a Strange Land.

I love the synths. Somwhere in Time is a loose concept album that was the blueprints for what Seventh Son of a Seventh Son was going to be. I think SSOASS should had used the synths too, but i guess this is what makes these two albums unique.
I think the songwriting is better on SIT than SSOASS. The songs feel more complex than whats on SSOASS.
Its a CLASSIC.

Bought the album today, listened to it, and loved it. Maiden is one of the few bands I can think of that still sounds fresh despite not sounding too different now than they did in the 80's (except now they obviously have better production, and Bruce's voice sounds much more mature).

So now you can vote hit and make it 22 - 0.

What a silly poll!

No one comes close to Maiden, for sure. They're the only band which I can listen to over and over without stopping and it would never bore me the slightest bit.

As for No Prayer and Fear, I enjoy both of them (Fear being the better of the two) but not as much as I enjoy their previous stuff. Maybe because I knew Adrian wasn't on these albums and that sucked out all the steam. Janick's a great player, no offense to his playing, but Adrian was like an icon to Maiden.

Which brings me to ask you guys this, ever realised that some of Adrian's solos are being played by Janick now, despite Adrian being in the band? I realised this when I watched the Rock in Rio and Death on the Road. Don't ask me why, but I was PISSED!

You gotta realise that for guitarists, especially one who has been playing for live for almost 30 years, playing the same solos over and over and over can get a little bit tedious.

He's probably happy he doesn't have to play all his old solos all the time.

It's a dip (for Maiden), but not a miss.

Hit. I don't think any of Maiden's first 8 albums were a miss. I presume anyone who has DOD as his fav Maiden album has not started off with Maiden by listening to their 80s stuff. A very strong album and comes close to their 80s stuff. I never understood the shit Fear Of The Dark gets. It is a very good. As for No Prayer For The Dying. It sounded like it was made in a hurry. The songs are just ok and Bruce's gruff vocals didn't help. But, in Fear Of The Dark, I think Bruce did an excellent job with his growly vocals.

BTW, Wasted Years and Deja Vu are probably my two favorite songs overall. But I like them all.

Just for clarification purposes, I don't think it's a miss. I was just trying to break up the monotany... or something.

This topic made me grab the album out of my collection again. Haven´t heard it in a while, definitely a hit.

Massive hit, but the Scottish guys I camped next to at that festival I've just been had like a two hour debate with me over Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner, they hated it haha.

Losers, that song is as brilliant as it's lyrics are stupid.

HIT, of course.

By the way, if you actually look closely on the live DVDs you'll more often than not see that Adrian and Janick are both playing a solo from the 80s albums at the same time.

SUPERHIT!

Great album in every way. Yes some of the lyrics are stupid, but the songs are all great, and no other album (that I know of) has nailed as much of a sci fi feel as this one has.

As for Fear of the Dark and No Prayer for the Dying- No Prayer is just kind of boringly mediocre all the way through, and Fear of the Dark is split evenly between great songs and very bad songs.
