What I mean is, like Rush, they're sound takes another logical step in a progression, Thier first album was the logical progression from Sanctuary.

Should be interesting. I notice he's got a thing for Paul Simon, first The sound of silence, now Patterns.

That track doesn't impress me much, but it's decent.

Yeah me either. Not keen on the choppy guitar parts...it's like Nevermore but wrong.

I've always liked Nevermore and have followed them from the beginning, but in my mind, Communic is better.

Two entirely different bands. A similar singer (at times) only.

Communic are the Nostradamaeus of Nevermore wannabes. Whole lot of shit going on but it couldn't be more uninteresting.

Great! It's a plan.

I completely disagree... the heaviness of the guitars is nearly identical, the tempo variety is similar, and the vocalists at times are extremely alike, imo.

I'm not kidding... If I were to make one "greatest hits" of all of the Nevermore CDs combined, it wouldn't match Communic's latest CD 'Waves of visual decay'.
:dio:
I know many of you will think the opposite, but I really feel this way.
To me, Nevermore is a lot like Savatage... they've given us some of the best songs ever, but never a completely awesome CD from the first song to the last.

Even though I like Communic there is no they're better then Nevermore.

You can't compare Communic's stuff with albums like Dreaming Neon Black and Politics Of Ecstasy.

Me liking Communic more than Nevermore is just that... it's my opinion, nothing more.

Like I said, most people like Nevermore more than Communic. I don't.
It's just my opinion.

Why would you review this? Clearly you're probably the wrong person to review this album.

And, Clint, Nevermore and Communic are vastly different musically.

Just because he might not like certain things about the CD and it might be a negative review, doesn't mean he shouldn't review it. It's still just an opinion, and there will surely be others that will agree with his review (regardless of whether of not it is a positive or negative one).

Yeah, I know... the difference is that Communic is a lot better. Glad we're in agreement.

Hehehe... I'm just playing.

What the fuck did you just say? Aside from Fight For The Rock there is almost 0 fillers right from Sirens up till Streets. Maybe you meant to say the Zak era Savatage, I agree with that. Anyways, I'm not being seriously angry or anything, I just wanted to stick up for my homies in Savatage. oh and there isnt a single bad song on Poets and Madmen, one of the best cds ever made muthafuckas :dio:

No offense taken.
Firstly, know that Savatage is one of my favorite bands of all time, and I also really like Trans-Siberian Orchestra... it's one of the few bands I have that my wife likes.
Anyway, in my opinion, there is always 2 or 3 songs on any given Savatage CD that aren't on par with the majority of their songs. One of my all-time favorite CDs is 'Edge of thorns', and even that has about 2 songs that are filler. Once again, in my opinion...

Thats cool, I was just jokin around. I did mean it though, Savatage holds the topspot of my favorite bands with Nightwish. I don't think there is really any filler on at least 7 of their albums, which is damn impressive.

Anyways, dont wanna turn the thread into something else any further, back to Nevermore everyone and forget I was here.

Eh. I think it's doing a bit of a disservice to the bands to have someone review an album that they most likely won't like. If the album just shows up on your doorstep—which happens all the time—then you sort of have to review it, regardless. But if you've been sampling tracks online and you don't like it, you shouldn't go and review it. That's just nonsense.

That's a good point.
However, negative reviews often save many fans from disappointment.
A great example is my Tacere review (rated 1.5/5). There are some metalheads that like the CD, but I know that other metalheads purchased it, only to be completely disappointed by the male vocals. My review (which complained about the male vocals) was unfortunately reviewed long after the CD was released, so I could have saved these other metalheads from disappointment.

I will say this... it's a lot more enjoyable to write a positive review than a negative one.
:D
