i don't despise any genres actually. but i have yet to hear some really good nu-metal
I could reccomend a few:
Disturbed is always good.
I love Dope, despite what everyone says. I think they mix good rhythmic feel, strong melodies and excting tempos. They are like the modern day motley crue as far as I'm concerned. everyone that just heard some of thier first album will say i'm dumb for saying that, but I think it is true of everything after that, which is what Edsel intends to sound like. Thier strength lies in thier production and song writing, not thier technical ability. Edsel is a great producer, If I had to pick a producer and peter collins (produced rush's ultra-slick 80's albums), michael omartian (80's producer) and tom scholz (boston) were busy, he'd be my pick. They rely primarily on strong melodies and solid groove, which are my two pet peeves.
Mudvayne's LD50 is simply a masterpiece, I can't say enough good things about this album in particular, everything else they've done is a dissapointment comparitively.
Slipknot's Iowa is one of my favorite albums ever. It is a solid metal album, of course every detractor refuses to listen to it nor could they be objective about it.
On that note, stone sour's debut is as solid as it gets as well. Groove metal at its finest, a slower, less thrashy and solo-less pantera.
I like most of mushroomhead's xiii. its great in its simplicity. it has some boring songs but some groove heavy moments. its got a beautiful and dark mood to it. I guess to me, its like a crazy acid-trip of an album without all the hippies and peace pretentions attached.
Cold's 13 ways to bleed on stage has it's moments, but not too many.
