Laaaaame!

What the hell?

Guess I worded that wrong. Basically there's a big quarter inch whole on the topside of the CD, the ink is missing, so I can actually look through the CD. Not sure why anyone would even bother sending it. I don't even have to play it to know it's going to skip.

Well, I have a huge order from CD baby coming, 22 CDs I think. And then 10 from Open Grave Records. But I also bought nearly full discographies of Edenbridge, Epica, Skyclad, and the first two Anacrusis albums from an online friend in Ireland for $300. And he threw in some other stuff. So if those all arrive before the end of the year, it'll push me over 1,000, or close to it.

Anyway, this is today's mail delivery:

Image

Haha. Now you see how it works. And that included the following:

20 Dead Flower Children - 20 Dead Flower Children (Cassette Demo)
AC/DC - Back In Black (Reissue) **
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock (Reissue) **
Gates Of Slumber, The - Split (7" EP w/The Dream Is Dead)
HIM - And Love Said No: The Greatest Hits 1997–2004 **
Jason Bonham Band, The - In The Name Of My Father: The Zepset **
Revolution Mother - Glory Bound *
Sex, Love & Money - Era (EP)
Wrathchild America - 3-D (w/Bonus Track)

* $1.75 from lala.com.
** Under $2 from SwapaCD.com.

I also got Volume 8 - The Threat Is Real by Anthrax through lala, but the CD was cracked in two places. NESS has been having issues with this, too. I got two tradeables; Paris Moon CD/DVD by Blackmore's Night and an Extreme CD single with non-LP tracks.

If I'd only invest my money.

Do you actually listen to every album you buy?
Some albums take a few spins to sink in, I can't imagine you can do that with 1000 albums a year.

I think it's more of an addiction than anything. A good addiction though...

A good addiction would be working out or something.

I've had a few problems. One idiot wrapped the disk in a paper towel before putting it in the shipping case. Why the hell...??!!

That is definitely a part of it. I do listen to everything, but obviously favorites surface and some albums get overlooked, even some great albums that I rediscover later. But yeah, it's definitely something of an addiction, typical of a hobby. But I do love my music, not just seeing stacks of CDs. I have music going all the time. Right now I have the news on while listening to Another Society and typing this. Haha. Pretty ridiculous, but I can actually watch TV or movies with music playing and I hear both fine.

And this year was different, I've never bought 1,000 CDs in a year before. Previous to this year I had about 5,000 CDs, but that was amassed over the course of like 15 years. I discovered lala this year and have traded nearly 500 CDs through that site, and a lot of them came from my personal collection. So I may be getting a CD, I'm also taking one away from my collection. But anyway, lala allowed me to get a ton of those CDs I would never ever pay full price for, or old CDs that I never upgraded from tape and vinyl. So this year was not normal at all for me. Between lala.com and now SwapaCD.com, it's just given me another way to get cheap discs, so I'm stocking up while the CD is relevant.

Everyone has some sort of addiction like this. Some chicks buy beanie babies, some dudes buy comics or action figures and shit, some buy fucking weed and beer and cigarettes. At the end of the day it's all a big fat waste of money.

I love Helena Michaelsen's voice. I'm enjoying this more than the new Nightwish and Tarja's "My Winter Storm".
