Pretty boring song. The main riff is also quite generic. Hope the rest of the album is better than this.

First you write off the album and say it's going to suck but now you have hope? Make up your mind.

By the way the song was edited for the music video. This is the full thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv4_FJPgnHY

Everything is generic to him...except, you know, his generic band.

Brilliant album!!! Definitely better than ANATO and ATITM, but maybe not as good as Nightfall or Imaginations. Still, this is Album of the Year material! Id give it 90-95/100

A guy can hope can't he? Despite how little I enjoy new Blind Guardian, the old stuff had such a profound influence on my musical tastes that I will never completely abandon them. Thus, while I am not expecting the album to be good, I still, nevertheless, hope that it will be.

So please, stop bitching about someone sharing their thoughts. This is a forum for the sharing of thoughts is it not, however redundant and repugnant to your own beliefs they may be.

And Satan's Anus, please try to maintain some civility. I for the most part refrain from taking personal jabs at people, I see that it's too much to expect from you. And I disagree about Harbinger being generic, but then again, I am most heavily biased. Perhaps if you take the time to listen to the album, you will see that it's not. If you don't, I care not, but try to keep your comments within the scope of things you have personal knowledge of.

Harbinger is a good band and their debut last year was a terrific piece of old school heavy metal goodness and it gets some bonus points as well for the very funny intros. I'm actually surprised that it wasn't reviewed here or discussed in the forums or promoted by HT. Or maybe it was and I missed it.

Back to new BG: it doesn't bring absolutely nothing new, it follows all their old and trusted recipes, but the compositions are so much better than lately. It's like a great recap of their entire discography: huge epics (Sacred Worlds, Wheel of Time), speedy cuts (Ride Into Obsession), medieval stuff (Curse my Name) and great power metal tracks of glorious (Tanelorn), emotional (Valkyries) or progressive (Control the Devine) nature. I consider this album a much awaited return to form and I'm damn happy about it.

Hansi needs to eat gravel or find some way to get his rich, gritty voice back. He can use it on occasion but will generally go into some awful high pitched squeal instead. It's like getting shit on a plate when you used to get file mignon from the same chef.

It just ruins the whole album for me.

Easily one of Blind Guardian's best albums ever. Also in the top 10 for best metal album of 2010.

For all those who don't like this album, firstly you need to listen to it again and secondly, you are extremely hard to please...or just really picky.

90-95/100 for me

And I make no doubts about that in my review for it

I mostly agree. The first few times I listened to it I was very skeptical and didn't like it that much. When I finally gave up my thoughts on what I wanted the album to be, I started liking it. Now I love everything on this album, even A Voice in the Dark, which I thought was boring when I first heard it. 85-90 for me.

Not really agree. It's their best album since NFOME, but not one of their best (4-5 position imo). 85-90 for me.

I'm really enjoying this one. Sacred Worlds, Tanelorn, Ride into Obsession and War of the Thrones are all classic tracks, and the only real loser is Curse my Name (Control the Divine is also pretty forgettable, but mainly just average, whereas Curse my Name is far far too cheesy for it's own good). A nice mix of all the different BG styles, and their best since Nightfall.

Yeah, Control the Divine is pretty boring. I love Curse My Name though. Actually, I love all the medieval sounding stuff on this album.

More "Lord-of-the-Dancey" than medieval if you ask me. That said, I like it too but I'm bored with people calling it "medieval" when it's not.
