I think the musical styles will reflect the better (less silly) parts of Rocket Ride, like "Sacrifice", with about a 2-1 split between the hard rock and power metal. My guess is that the hard rock songs will still be more epic and orchestral in nature than most of those on Rocket Ride as well. If this is the case, I'll be fine with it as long as the songs are good.

The only silly song was "Trinidad," and that song can disappear off the face of the planet for all I care. Terrible tune.

I'd say almost half of that album is silly. WHat about the vocal guitar solo, and Tobi going nuts at the end of one of the songs. I like that cd, but I think he takes Avantasia a little more seriously.

Lost In Space sounds like an instant classic compared to this. Tobi couldn't have picked a worse song to represent the album.

Yikes. You're right. Awful song.

New trailer. And it sounds killer. I don't care what people whine about.

Who's been whining about The Scarecrow so far?

That was a pre-emptive comment. Just listen to a few samples in that trailer, especially "Carry On." You know what's coming.

Psychic.

Yeah, you predicted fans of a symphonic power metal band wouldn't appreciate them releasing a lifeless, processed commercial rock track.

Clairvoyance, man.

I loved Trinidad, and I'm not afraid to admit it. OMFG Power Metal band in less than serious song drama!

Did you think I was serious? A deafblind retard could have seen that reaction coming.

I actually just think the song sucks. I love the rest of the album.

If you like the EPs you'll like this, it's pretty much in the same vein. Too bad Promised Land isn't on the album since it's the best song. Shelter From The Rain is another cool power metal track. The title track is pretty interesting as well.

Personally I find it inferior to the first two Avantasia albums, but overall it's pretty good I guess. Better than Rocket Ride for sure, but I hated that album.

Does anyone have the iTunes exclusive version of "Lost In Space" with Kiske on vocals?

This new album is great! A nice mix of Edguy's rock style and the epic power metal stuff on a lot of the first two Avantasia albums. "What Kind Of Love" and "Cry Just A Little" don't do much for me, just like the ballads on the first two albums. "Carry Me Over" may also be a ballad, but it's got a lot more to hold onto. "Lost In Space" actually seems a little out of place here.

Either way, those four songs will probably be the songs people whine about the most. The rest should please everyone, but I'm sure people will write the whole album off still.

Well, let me be the first to say that 4 ballads out of 11 songs is just stupid. The only one I can listen more than once is Lost In Space because it reminds me of Holy Water, one of the few Edguy ballads I like. The rest of the album is great to simply ok, but these ballads really fuck it up imho.

Well, "Lost In Space" is not a ballad. It could be argued that "Carry Me Over" is also not a ballad. That would leave just two ballads. Still...Metal Opera part one had two ballads, and part two had three.

So again, why are these things so bad now? The first two albums had songs that were more like rock songs. Why is it a problem now?

Sorry but I don't buy it. You can talk all you want but Lost In Space and Carry Me Over are ballads in my book, or if you prefer they have strong ballad-like qualities.

Farewell, Inside, In Quest For, Anywhere and Into The Unknown are good songs. Even the weakest among them is better than the best ballad on the new album. And to answer your question why it is a problem now... well, because now they suck.

The difference is simple; Lost in Space and Carry Me Over are shite. The ballads on the first two albums are not. They are cheesy as hell, but they are good songs. In Quest For is beautiful, whereas Lost in Space is just dead.

crap. you're all bumming me out. despite my dislike for the crappy EPs, I was really hoping the full-length release would kick ass.

So complain that the songs suck. If you dislike the songs, say so. Everyone is complaining about the styles of the songs, like that is the reason they dislike the songs so much. If you don't like the songs, say the songs suck. Don't say they suck because they're ballads.

And for the record, that comment is more general in scope. I'm not totally directing it at you.

Lost In Space is nothing special listened to it once now I just skip it. Doesn't compare with other more straightforward Edguy tracks like King Of Fools and The Devil And The Savant.
But the few tracks I did like on the eps give me hope I'll like the new album.

I love this new album. its probably leaning more towards the rocket ride style then the earlier stuff, but it still rocks. Alice Coopers appearence is a definate highlight. I think this is one people will either love or loath, same as RR
