After the Ozzy topic, thought I'd discuss this muscly little cretin. I know, this could easily have gone in other forum sections, but I think it fits best here. Even if it is doomy and rocky. Anyways, I think Danzig is fucking brilliant. I like The Misfits, but this shit (well, the early stuff, I know nothing of his more recent material) is fan-fucking-tastic. When you see him described as 'evil Elvis' or 'Jim Morrison's satanic son' and such you know it has to be good-and it is. The lyrics kick arse, the vocals kick arse, the music is brilliant. Mother, Twist of Cain, Serpents of Christ...Why bother going on? IMO quality stuff, I'm really digging this atm.

Also, that video of him getting decked doesn't really change my perception of him at all, getting hit like that has no bearing on how tough he is-if he'd taken that punch it would have just proved that he had a rock hard chin which proves very little really...although it would've been metal. I guess he's an arsehole for shoving the guy, but if he wasn't an arsehole he wouldn't be Danzig I guess. Still, it is funny.

I don't care for Danzig at all in fact I rather listen to Ozzy screaming at his wife for 30 minutes than listen to anything by Danzig.

But that's just me though.

I love him with Misfists, and I really like his solo first 3 records. Rest of solo discography is meh.

I only liked his first three albums. The ones after were a bit...weird. But The Misfits still ruled. My opinion :P

I've barely listened to The Misfits and only recently did I start listening to the first album. Honestly not much has really stuck out and screamed "This is awesome!", but then again I hav'nt really listened this intently.

Danzig I, II & III are just about flawless IMO. I love that stuff.

4p is really underrated too, its only just a step behind the previous stuff.

He went off the rails after that until Circle of Snakes (although his voice is noticeably slipping there)

Then there's the Lost Tracks of Danzig which contains an albums's worth of material on par with those first 3, across its 2 CD's.

Never been a misfits guy though.

I'm a huuuuuuuge Danzig fan. In my younger days I nearly got the demon skull tattooed on my arm. Good to know his stuff is still being discovered.

By the way, check this out for lulz.

Danzig is good, but I don't think any albums past the 4th are really worth your time. They go down in quality, especially his last release... It's just boring and Danzig sounds like he lost his voice years ago.

I'm a huge Misfits fan, both old and new... Danzig had a hell of a voice and is a major influence. I felt his best days were with the Misfits, though. Danzig is a solid act, fo sho, but like I said, quality goes downhill after about the 4th album.

Haha, yeah, I like that.

I think that skull looks badass. I'd definantly get that tattooed.

I used to be a bigger fan, but i've always liked his stuff.

The only album that sucked was blackacidevil in my opinion. I liked 6 and 7 rather well, probably more than the bluesy early stuff.

If anyone ever gets the chance to see Danzig with tommy victor on guitar it is phenomenal. Tommy brings his own style and playing to the group, something danzig normally wouldn't want, but he lets tommy get away with it.

I'm a giant Danzig fan. Love the first four albums. 5 is decent. 666,7 and Circle of Snakes are a step up but The Lost Tracks is a fucking amazing compilation. I highly recommend it to anyone who liked the first few albums. Also Samhain is awesome if anyone hasn't listened to them. 666 and 7 seemed to have an appeal to more mainstream stuff with Jay Gordon producing and mixing or what not.

Saw Samhain in 85 in Santa Cruz, CA...
Samhain > Misfits > Danzig

If you dig Danzig, check out The Crimson Ghosts, The Other, Son of Sam, Calabrese, Blitzkid, The Death Riders...

If I were a chick I'd have a huge crush on Danzig.

You're just hiding your true homoerotic feelings. Just say you have a mancrush. It's cool if you want to spoon and be held by Danzig's massive biceps and rustle your nose in his dark forest of hair.
