some will argue that's when they sold out (though some others would think it's with the black album)... actually, it seems every time a metal band changes because change is natural he is accused of selling out (Katatonia or Samael being exceptions to that "rule")... who said metal was conservative ??? :roll:
on the Load/Reload issue, I stronly think that taking the best songs from both albums (basically they were the same sessions) would have made one (if not the) best Metallica album... but G'n'R did the same mistake with Use Your Illusion and so did (in a very different genre) Radiohead with Kid A/mnesiac... not every band can put out great double albums like Led Zep (Physical Graffiti), The Beatles (White album), Genesis (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) or The Clash (London Calling)... :(
