Say what?

I just listened to it and I don't hear anything that remotely sounds like Mirror Mirror. Am I missing something?

The Maiden And The Minstrel Knight is one of my favorites from ANATO. Polly my favorite BG ballad too. :dio:

I really like A Night at the Opera. And Then There Was Silence is completely brilliant, but so is Precious Jerusalem, Under the Ice, Soulforged and Wait For an Answer- Punishment Divine is also very good, but only when played live. Battlefield and Sadly Sings Destiny are also pretty good. But it's not an album I can listen to all the way through- at a certain point, it's just too much. And the Maiden and the Minstrel Night has to be my least favourite BG song- far, far too much cheese. So overall, good album (definitely better than A Twist in the Myth), but not anywhere near to my favourite BG album.

Listen to the song at the 2:12 mark and then tell me that is not the exact same riff as Mirror Mirror at 0:21, 0:54 and so on. It's EXACTLY the same. If you don't hear it than I don't know what to tell you.

And to be clear, I said the riff was recyled, not the song. You've expanded the scope of what I said considerably and now attempt to make it look like I am way off base. This is not so. The riff....or lead I should say, is what has been recycled.

I think that at the time it came out, it was such a massive step further in the direction set by Nightfall that many people were already hailing that as the be all end all BG album just got overwhelmed. Opera is certainly a great album, but IMO not 100/100, as so very few albums should be. I would see it as more 85/100, still great but not perfect. Hansi does go overboard with the layered vocals, which thankfully he toned down in later albums.

I wasn't trying to expand anything. Perhaps if you initially indicated which specific parts you thought sounded recycled rather than accusing me of something I didn't do, we could have avoided this misinterpretation or whatever.

Anyway, the riffs are similar but not note-for-note.

I've never had any issues with the over-production or vocals, I really enjoy the over-the-top....ness. The only backfire of it is that it makes it incredibly difficult to make them sound good when played live.

If you reread my post you'll note that I indicated that they recycled a riff, not an entire song. Perhaps you should go back and make sure that you're not accusing someone of doing something you did. In any case, you're wrong, it is almost note for note.

I said there was nothing in the song that sounded like Mirror Mirror to me. That doesn't mean I thought you said the entire song was recycled.

I don't see how that makes a difference, but in any event, its irrelevant. We disagree. Nuff said.
