I know that there has been a serious conversation about their newest album, but I saw "Karma" at Hastings the other day and after hearing "Highlands" and "Temples of Gold" I was just wondering if it's one of their better albums. Are there any other albums that are comparable to it, is it a good place to start with collecting their back catalogue?

The follow-up, Epica, is significantly better, and perhaps my favourite by them.

Karma is pretty generic stuff. If you want to own it and are a Kamelot fan I say go for it. It's not a bad album it's just not very memorable.

Pfft, Karma and Epica are their best albums.

This. I like The Black Halo a lot also. Karma has some great tunes.

I personally think Karma is their best album, with Epica a close second. You could easily buy those two albums without thinking about it.

For the rest of their stuff, I suggest checking the tracks out first.

There was a thread and a poll a few months ago in this forum (I think its on page 2 in "Heavy, Prog, and True Metal Warriors") discussing their albums.

From Siege Perilous to Poetry for the poisoned I like them all.
If you're more into the basic power metal you'll definitely like both Karma and Epica. As for the rest of their catalog they mix it up with straight forward heavy metal and progressive metal and still have the occasional power metal track.

As far as musical acquisitions go, Karma, Epica and The Black Halo are no brainers. You really can't go wrong with any of those.

Karma is a good album. Songs like Forever,Wings Of Despair and the Elizabeth trilogy are class Kam songs.

Overall the album is not as good as say Epica or TBH but it's still a solid album.
