Don't let Adveser's fanboism deter you from this band. They really were one of the best in the genre for a while and it sounds like their new one is a return to form.

Yes their broken English is hilarious, but they are some great musicians otherwise.

Love Return to Heaven Denied Pt. 1, as soon as I get a hold of Pt. 2 a review will follow shortly.

Never really given this band a listen before. Seems like something I would like though. Which albums are worth checking out?

Yep, RTHD is in my top ten of all time. Not as good as some of Vision Divine's albums though (but what is? seriously, two of their albums are ranked my 2nd and 3rd best albums ever.)

Don't overlook the first Vision Divine album. That album is a dark horse masterpiece and is very similar to RTHD.

RTHD pt. 1 is probably one of the best heavy metal albums released in the last 15 years. Unfortunately, part 2 is not nearly as good. Band's always have some difficulty when they begin with a certain style, then change that style due to line up changes or changes of heart, and then attempt to go back to the original style. It seems too "contrived," they were better when they just sounded a certain way without trying to. Trying to recapture an earlier sound is extraordinarly difficult.

First one is great and this is not a bad album at all I like it, it's good to see Olaf back in the band.

The only VD album I've heard all the way through is Stream of Consciousness and I love it. I should check out some of their earlier stuff. The few songs I heard from their newer albums were kinda lame, IMO.

The Perfect Machine is my 3rd fav album ever mostly because of the concept of the album, Michele's voice and Olaf and Oleg's always incredible songwriting. But if you didn't like that, I get it. It isn't their typical neo-classical sound at all now that I think about it. I can see why people didn't like their last two, but I hold them both in high esteem, 9 degrees though has some mediocrity at the end of the album and some songs that just don't sound very typical of the band.

The consensus does not seem to share my opinion on the first album, but I really love most of the songs on the first one. It may take some getting used to and an unhealthy love of Olaf and Fabio's sense of melody too. Far better than Athena's A New Religion though.

Knock yourself out. The first two records are out of print except in China and Korea I believe, so I wouldn't hesitate to download those.

I think the dissonance here is that I am a huge fan of pop music which has influenced both bands songwriting.

The album sounds like that artwork! A truly magical one-off bit of prog/power majesty.

That said, I hope Pt. II is as good. :) Great to see a power metal trying to get back to the style that made everyone love them in the first place, far too many of the old guard have lost their way recently.
