Every now and again an album is released that makes you sit up and take notice, and on some level reinvigorates your belief in music. This album has had that kind of affect on me. I was never expecting anything of this calibur from them ever again. Simply fantastic.

I'm really enjoying this one. Sacred Worlds, Tanelorn, Ride into Obsession and War of the Thrones are all classic tracks, and the only real loser is Curse my Name (Control the Divine is also pretty forgettable, but mainly just average, whereas Curse my Name is far far too cheesy for it's own good). A nice mix of all the different BG styles, and their best since Nightfall.

Yeah, Control the Divine is pretty boring. I love Curse My Name though. Actually, I love all the medieval sounding stuff on this album.

More "Lord-of-the-Dancey" than medieval if you ask me. That said, I like it too but I'm bored with people calling it "medieval" when it's not.

Why is it not?

Would you have heard some real medieval music, you wouldn't have asked.

What's real medieval music?

This for example.
I'm too lazy and not good enough in the english language to explain but, be curious, this is pretty good stuff and not that expensive considering it's a 15 cds boxset.

If Valkyries and Control The Divine were cut this would be near perfection for me.. they are ok songs but they just kill all momentum for me.

Oh come on, Valkyries is one of the highlights. That sweet style of riffing reminiscent of the one employed by Queensryche on the mighty Operation: Mindcrime plus a nice melancholic atmosphere. Great song.

I agree. Control The Divine is the low point, and I'm not very fond of A Voice in the Dark, ok song but nothing really special. The rest of the record is killer material. Tanelorn is the best song imo.

In addition to the low points already mentioned, i would add tanelorn. It has one of the worst choruses hansi has ever written.

Agreed.

To everyone waiting for the review, sincerest apologies. The review is done and in the system, but I didn't submit it until just after the update. It'll certainly be there next week though.

Well we can see the score at least and that's actually exactly what I would give it.

I personally would score it higher, I mean IMHO this deserves a better score than "A Twist of the Myth".

I would score A Twist in the Myth much lower than Aleksie's score of 88, though.

Yeah, ATITM should be somewhere in the 60s.

Exactly my thoughts.

For some reason, I believe Hansi is the new Dio (RIP). 25 years on and his voice hasn't aged. Let's hope he'll pull for another 25.
