These douche bags are attempting to justify profiting from the death of Ronnie James Dio by putting out a compilation tribute album and selling it at their merchandise tents at their shows and on their online shop. At no point have they mentioned where the proceeds are going, they have merely made blanket assertions that they were friends with Dio....so it's ok....right?

I think its amusing that their only response is that they were friends with Dio. Since they have some remote relationship, Dio wouldnt care that they were profiting from his death. These guys are a fuckin disgrace. I dont even know how they can justify this in their own minds. And shit, you don't need money to buy loin cloth. Don't see the big deal. Sigh recorded the Venom tribute album and didn't donate anything. Sure, Dio is dead, but I don't see what the big deal is. A million and a half Dimebag tributes were made for no reason other than he died.

The question is that are they trying to do a tribute because he deserves it and they cared about him or are they doing it just to cash in on his death?

If it's the latter then that's a very low thing to do.

I just think what I would do if I released a Dio tribute album right after his death. Not donating any proceeds to the cancer fund would be out of the question and some pretty callous justifications would have to exist not to.

So, my opinion is they are not doing the right thing, and I will tell my metal friends not to buy it, which is my prerogative.
