Well, I agree moreless (I think Hansen was not a great singer, but not horrible, and Keepers I is not very cheesy, opossite to Keepers II) but perhaps is that I'm emotional tied to these albums, I grew with them.

So did I. And I really enjoyed each and every one of them in their own time. And you're right, Keeper I is not that cheesy but the production sucks and I cannot hear A Tale That Wasn't Right anymore, this song just gets on my nerves.
Actually, I think The Dark Ride is the only Helloween album I can never grow tired of.

Although I voted for the Dark Ride, is quite funny that most forummites voted for the album that sound less like Helloween :P

Shit, this must be the first time I actually agree with you. I didn't like his high-pitched shriek way of singing, but Kai Hansen has come a long way since his performance on that first record. I think there's too little guitar in the sound on those first "Keeper" albums. Plus, IMO "Keeper II" has a few filler. "Dr. Stein" for example. And your last point, yep, Kiske is an accuired taste. I wouldn't personally call him "pop" but some places he sounds thin and whiney IMO.

I'll take Kiske or even Hansen over Deris anytime seriously.

Best for me would be Gambling With The Devil, followed by The Dark Ride and then Rabbit Don't Come Easy

Hey, I like Kiske. I just find Deris to be better and more comfortable to listen to. He has a more varied voice and is more emotional IMO. Hansen is also great. But IMO his first great performance was on the "Land Of The Free" album.

Helloween are lucky to have had two outstanding vocalists and one errrrr charismatic vocalist each with their own unique style. One of the things I love most about Helloween is how they've developed so much over the years, and I like the style of each of the seperate eras (discounting Chameleon) just fine. People who complain about how they changed after Hansen's departure forget that after some initial tooling around Gamma Ray more or less carried on the path of the old Helloween, and if Kai hadn't jumped ship all those classic Gamma Ray albums would never have happened. So we were given two great bands where previously there had been one.

My thoughts exactly. I also feel the same way about Masterplan as well. Helloween hasn't been losing quality since Roland and Uli left, they are still churning out the same caliber of power metal. And now we have another band releasing amazing music. That just goes to show what an awesome band Helloween is. No matter who leaves they always land on their feet.
