Also, thats a lot of bands you listen to, personally that many would take me much longer than you to both digest and appreciate. I recommend taking things a bit slower.

Well, I keep going back to them. I doubt DT's early albums will ever get old for me, and the fact that people say their later stuff is better is exciting. I have to listen to lots of stuff generally, though, being a reviewererist.

I have listened to only one album from these bands, so I am recommending the albums rather than the band.

1) Jacob's Dream - Theater Of War

2) Cydonia - Cydonia

3) Sacred Steel - War Gods Of Metal (If you can get past the vocals)

Actually dream theater were a band that got me into metal. Awake and Images and Words are two albums that are in my all time classics.
I cant listen to any of their past 2000ish stuff, they have turned into a bit of a shred/wankfest band.

I HAVE to download.

It's impossible to find this stuff in the States. All the crap in CD stores here is nu, rap, and especially country down in the south. If I do happen to find the CD though, I will buy it to support the artist, because I know if everyone was like me, there'd be no new CDs!

EDIT: If you must download, or you download to sample, bitTorrent is the best way; all top quality music--no fuzzy sounds or weak drums.

Dude, you're on a computer. Order the shit online. Also, I live in bumfuck West Texas, and I can find a lot of this stuff. There's also a thing called "Special Ordering." I do it all of the ime.

Yea that's totally true. Forgive my ignorance. I still have no income though (one year off legal working age).

Steal money from your mother like the rest of us did at your age! Or get a frickin' paper route. I had one of those when I was like 12. Then go to Goodwill shops or Salvation Army stores or pawn shops or flea markets. I've found tons of rare CDs at these places for like $0.25!

Hehe when i was young i only got records for my birthday, christmas etc, same thing with my friends so we always tried to get different albums so we could share them with eachother, of course those were the times when Iron Maiden and all the other big bands were still releasing classics, so we could perfectly live with only four albums a year haha.

For a really unique sounding band you definitely have to check Morgana Lefay. Might as well try their latest, Aberrations Of The Mind, kicked all sorts of ass last year. From their older stuff I highly recommend Maleficium, a very dark masterpiece of doomy thrashy power metal.

I second recomandations of Virgin Steele, Slough Feg, Beyond Twilight and Jag Panzer.

Oh, and nobody mentioned Savatage.

Man that sounds so nostaligally awesome, but at the same time I'll just keep my 600 CDs thanks all the same.

Only just noticed this; more Scottish slang, Craigo?

So I love the Kiuas, as mentioned (The Reformation's on its way from America) and Circus Maximus sound pretty good too. Pyramaze added to the list!

They are amazing. They are so underrated too. I think they should be ten times bigger than what they are. Such amazing musicians. Which Angra did you check out?
