I went to see Heaven and Hell, and part way through the setlist, Dio noticed some guy in the front with a home made Black Sabbath Poster. Dio took the poster and signed it for the fan, but kept it on stage for the rest of the show. After the concert was over, all the other band members were about to head off stage, but Dio grabbed them all and got every one of them to sign the guy's poster. Dio, what a class act!

That's just awesome. The impression I get of him after reading and listening to numerous interviews over the years is that he quite possibly is the most humble man in rock and roll. As you say, a real class act.

So how was the show ??

Dio's voice was fantasic. He had a lot of energy on stage dancing around and getting the crownd into it. My biased friend even commented that he put Ozzy to shame with his voice and stage presence. I really liked the stage itself, a midevil cathedral, and during the song Heaven and Hell, near the end, there was a red halo light effect around Ronnie. It was simple, but it made him look really evil. Cool Stuff.

On an embarrasing note, somone in the crowd threw his shoe at Dio. Dio grabbed the shoe and yelled "Whoever threw this shoe, I'm going to shove it up there ass!" Dio then tossed the shoe backstage somewhere . I'd beat the piss out of that guy if I knew who did it.

But it was great to hear Bruce tell the crowd that if they saw another arm to go up to throw another egg...."make sure that arm comes down in two pieces"!!

Bruce Dickinson rules :dio:

That's an awesome report, and bodes well for me since I'm attending the inaugural US date in Phoenix on April 22nd. I'll agree Dio is a class act and I can't wait to see him with Sabbath again (saw them once on Dehumanizer tour in '92). He's lost a few steps vocally, but still kicks ass for a senior citizen.

Why didn't you just stand outside the venue and look for the guy with only one shoe? Not like he'd be hard to spot.

In defense of the shoeless guy, he probably just lost it because someone gave him a flat tire or something. Then someone else threw it. That's how it usually goes at shows.

Who throws one of their own shoes?

Dio > Ozzy

Never any doubt on that, Ozzy blew his wad in 76 after SBS, made 3 good solo albums and sucked since, Dio keeps on keeping on......

What is the next tour and band name though Eternal Idols featuring the stylings off Tony M......that might be pretty cool actually though.

Sabbath was one of the best shows I've ever been to, Dio is indeed a class act, so is Tony. The bassist was absolutely amazing so was the drummer, fuckin' hell they all rule.

Have you ever played "Where's Waldo", and in the older books where you had to find him and his missing shoe in a crowd of people? It ain't easy.

An Idiot? Either that or whoever let that person throw his shoe is a weakling for not doing anything about it. There was no pushing or shoving after the incident, and that's the least you'd expect.

That is considered a "special one-time-only show" on their current swing thru Canada. The official USA tour starts April 22nd, after a three week haitus to rest up. It's a technicality, I know. :D
