Try the Saidian- Pheonix (2007)

The website has clips of all songs in the download section. I just bought mine from theendrecords.
This is pure Edguy worship from the days of all the earlier albums. I can here touches of Kingdoms, Savage, alot of double bass and triumphant overtones that Vain Glory and Theater had as well. The singer and guitarists imitate (especially in the time changes and choruses a lot). Many may have a problem with this. I personally love those albums and just cant listen to more that about 3 songs off of Rocket Ride, so it has become a dust collector already. That pains me because Edguy is one of my fav bands out of the many thousands.

The vox obviously will not live up to Tobias for this style, but they are similar in structure and not bad by any means. The songwriting is not as strong, but it is pretty good and this is the bands 2nd album and far exceeds the path forlorn(debut).

Has anyone else heard it and what do you think?
I think most Edguy fans will enjoy the album quite a bit!

I''ve heard. But not being an Edguy fan, I didn't know they sound *that* much like them. Obviously I noticed the influences, along with Stratovarius.

Sound like bitsy bit better than average powametal. To me this is get-if-you-see-it-on-sale :)

PS. Uh, just noticed that the 1st album that used to be on sale isn't listed at all anymore on of the sites where I buy CDs from

From the quick sample I heard it sounded great. I'll have to look into it a little further though.

Sounds very good. I will hopefully remember to follow up on these guys.

Normally I'm not keen on copyist bands, but fuck it, if Toby doesn't want to write Edguy songs then why not have someone else do it instead?

Yep, great CD! :)

From the MCDR site a few months ago....

"Saidian - Phoenix 4/5 (2nd CD recommended to fans of Stratovarius and especially Edguy; contains more speed than the debut and is an overall huge improvement)"

Just checked four songclips from the new album again. The singer sounded 'worse' than I remembered, not bad, but not as smooth as I thought :/

Interesting that u seem to like/praise it so much... you aren't xtians are you?!

I still stand by what I said in the 1st post; quality but average powa. Not sure if I'll keep this on my buylist...
