I know there are a lot of Maiden fans here....

3 or 4 years ago I passed on getting into Aria (I didn't learn of them until that time), as their lengthy discography and Russian language scared me away.
But I've gotten into Russian-language bands the last few years and recently decided to give them another listen.... wow!! Aria is truly the Russian version of Maiden, and they excel at the style!
I've only heard about the first half of their discography, but it's right in line with pre-SIT/SSoSS era Maiden. :)

Check em' out...

Here is the section of their homepage that lists their CDs (click on the CDs to find samples... I recommend hearing tracks 2 through 4 from their debut... they're killer, and it's only their debut!!):
http://www.aria.ru/publications/albums.html
Not all of these are full-length however, so see the "A" page of MCDR to see which CDs are full-length:
http://www.angelfire.com/music5/metalcd ... pageA.html
From what I've heard so far, the ratings (by colleagues) are accurate. :)

Also, Sentinel Steel (http://www.sentinelsteel.com/) has their CDs in stock and they're $7.88, but Denis is having a sale (!!), so they would actually be $2 less ($5.88!!!). :D

Anyway, I spent the time to post this because I'm so confident in their quality....

That's what I thought. :)

As for the post....
What, no takers? Nobody has the band and can share their opinion, or nobody can share their thoughts after listening to samples? Oh welll...

Yeah I have Megalomania. It's pretty good, but sometimes it gets a little boring.

Aria is great! I've got the first two records (Manija Velichija and S Kem Ti?), and i'm trying to find the rest of their discography.

Thanks for popping in. Since you're in Finland, you won't be able to order from Sentinel Steel (who's currently only taking orders from those who are in the U.S. I believe), but I have a Russian seller/contact that I order CDs from via email and PayPal. He has all of the Aria CDs, so if you're interested, email me (metalcdratings@yahoo.com) and I'll give you his email/info. This goes for any of you that are interested....

Thanks for the offer, but i know a couple of Finnish distributors who stock Aria CD's from time to time. One guy is actually taking a trip to Russia soon.

Arya are indeed the Russian answer to Maiden, I especially like their 3rd and 4th albums.

They are actually pretty huge in their native country, almost a household name, or so my Russian friends tell me (I had them translate the lyrics obviously :P)

My dad's friend got their CD when he was in Russia. It's pretty alright.

This is most definitely a fantastic band. The song Ballad of an Ancient Russian Warrior is sick as hell. Stands up well against Maiden's epic scores.
