Hey! Cool. Mike must have posted this early, unless it's automatic. I don't know.

Anyway, great band, and seemingly great guys. This was my first-ever interview. :) Did you ask any of the fan questions?

Very nice interview. I like when the interviewer actually knows a lot about the band because they ask interesting questions instead of "so who are you guys?" (can't the interviewer just write that himself at the start?), "hows your tour going?", "do you like your new album", etc

You know, I feel the same way, but certain do need to be asked, you know? Especially when bands are promoting specific albums and stuff.

My main goal, if I was to ever interview a band, was to ask questions that wouldn't be found in countless other interviews in magazine/webzines. I think I would hate to interview a band I wasn't familiar with! And even Scars, I'm no expert on the band as information on them is scarce, nor do I know the scene there very well. So, I did my best, I think and I think it came out cool.

Horn. Toot. :)

Ok, maybe that was too quick a conclusion, but then it's the best I can remember...

OK, I thought that was total sarcasm. I was like, there's a lot of interviews here! Hahaha.

Anyway, I'm glad they're not satanic. :)

Well, it's because I don't like interviews that are mainly "how's the tour going" questions. I just don't care about that stuff, yours had just a very few of those questions.

Thanks Ken for a great interview. And I really like your tactic to ask us forum members for questions. Also really glad they are not satanic! :D

Keep 'em coming!

Since most of the interviews I do are in person I ask the tour question to break the ice. I get some current news as well as being able to gauge how receptive the artist is to the interview. Does he seem to go into very long answers? Are they willing to answer "hard" questions? Do they seem agitated? Does their mind seem to wander? Are they personable or do they answer with short abrupt responses? So yea I use the hows it going on the tour question to get info for the reader even if it isnt anything too grand but also to make sure that the meat of the interview comes out as best as possible.

Plus I'm my own editor when it comes to putting in the interviews and i like the uncut versions with everything pertinent included.

I have no issues with your interviews. Just curious, do you record the interviews, or freehand it all? What do you use to record it?

Haha I didnt mean anything by the post. Just noticed that Misha commented about the frequency of the tour questions and thought that readers might think the same thing. It was a clarification on why its recurring nothing defensive or offensice behind it. Cos it sucks when an interviewee is difficult to pry answers out of.

I used to use an old tape recorder for about three years. I'd have to crouch over my speaker phone for phoners and then the good ol "rewind , play, rewind, play repeat 80 times" method of typing them out. Now I use a decent digital recorder than I still write out manually but can archive on the cpu which is pretty cool.

And, like I mentioned, some questions just need to be asked no matter how typical and boring they are.

I'm thinking about trying to do some live interviews, you know? Maybe Zero Hour if they make it up to Boston. I don't know. All I know is I'm not going to be one of those tards with just a notepad and have the interview look like this:

Ken: So how's the new tour going?

Interviewee: Well, [it's going well], you know? [The fan reaction] has been [great, very positive]. [We] hope to get to [Europe and other countries] later [this Summer].

I hate interviews like that.
