Good review too, he seemed pretty cool. :D

Interesting on how unsatisfied he was with the production, I thought the atmosphere on the trilogy was about right.

I loved Nattestid... though I'm still curious how the rest of the trilogy will sound. Anyway, I'm happy with the way you conducted the interview, though maybe he could've been a little more in depth with his answers I think.

I feel that too, it was a VERY intelligent interview but not for half the answers Hoest gave. It was a shame he replied to your extremely good questions with just one vague sentence. I also found the fact that he only has knowlegde of the Norwegian underground scene to be quite disturbing. The Norwegian scene is dying while others are blooming. I'm glad Hoest got more interested after a few of your intelligent questions, and I'm glad to see he admitted that "you got the point" in the review. It seems that you got the point better than Hoest himself 8) Still, Hoest seems to be a kind and intelligent man that deserved your interview. He should read my review on Band X for monday!

I agree with you guys 100% on the short answers, but have in mind that Høst's answers are short because he is quite busy at the moment touring with Carpathian Forest, so it is a priviledge to get an interview (even with short answers) under such circumstances.

But yes, I would have loved to get some more in-depth answers from him.... bands should see the answers Azentrius gave, and take note, those have been the best I've ever seen.

Hit the nail right on the head, I was about to post pretty much the same thoughts. Indeed, his national pride seems to have gone a bit overboard with that statement, but well... to each his own! Still a very enjoyable interview, and I'm already on the lookout for those split 7"'s and side project stuff ;)

Good questions, Daniel...
though I am simply amazed that he is "not really all that impressed with Black metal outside of Norway"... if not for the Bm outside of Norway, it would be a dead genre.
And I know this is blasphemy to you, but Taake is inferior to a lot of other bands right now (IMO, of course), though Taake is good, don't get me wrong.
Anyways, once again your questions were thoughtful and interesting, the answers were less so.
Hails!
V.

Thanks Valefor, and yes I agree that his "Not impressed by the BM outside of Norway" was out of place... anyway, that's a classic Norwegian Black Metal artist reply, and it didn't realy surprise me much...

Sad but true. Their elitism manages to irritate me at times.

I was very surpirsed when he said that he did not like any other
bands outside the Norwegian scene.Other than that i think his answers are short but go straight to the main point, and that is what counts!Well maybe he could have been more descriptive in some parts but he is touring with Carpathian Forest (As Daniel said) so he must be really busy.

P.S
As Usual a great job by Daniel! Keep up the good work man! :)

Hails Daniel for getting a praise from your idol.

What's wrong with elitism? This is what never ceases to irritate me. People wanting black metal without the elitism, without the nationalism, without its very founding elements; then they go on to claim to comprehend the genre. Its about as hypocritical as Christian Black Metal.

Anyways, the interview was good, and he hit the essence of black metal right on as far as I'm concerned. Could have been a little more informative, but still good to read. Thank you Daniel :)

Thanks Iron Duchess, and yes I agree, elitism is a part of Black Metal, that's why Host acting in an elitist way didn't surprise me at all.
