Post subject: Bands I can probably score an interview with - suggest Qs
PostPosted: Tue Oct 04, 2005 4:30 pm
MINDGRINDER
CENTINEX
RAM-ZET
SHEAVY
MASTERPLAN
ROB ROCK
ABSU
DETONATION
AGE OF SILENCE
EPICA
I can also probably get
Charnel Valley, Circus Maximus, Grand Magus, Kult ov Azazel, Overmars, P.H.O.B.O.S., Rigor Sardonicous, Slough Feg, Space Odyssey, sunnO)), V:28, Witchcraft

Now, please understand that I myself is not an expert on all of these bands, some I only heard small bits of the discography.
Also, with my time load I will mostly do e-mailers (if the band so wishes).
Let's try to keep an open mind to this process and see what happens.

For Ram-Zet:

What was the impetus behind the switch from one-man project to actual band? Was it a planned, deliberate way to change the sound, or did it evolve more organically?

For Space Odyssey.

Actually more for Patrick Johannson. I want to know when a new Wuthering Heights is scheduled for release.

For Rob Rock.

Why did he go for more of a heavier sound on his past album?

There is no BM I listen to in the suggestion list, but I do have some Detonation, which I really like.

Detonation:

- What feelings do you think your music resembles?

- The outstanding accoustic passages are well woven into the heavier parts on both your albums. What is the meaning of the accoustic passages?

- What do you think of the recent direction Opeth is taking?

- What do you think of the current metal-scene, both popular and underground?

- Are there any bands you would like to recommend?

- What is your opinion on metalheads nowadays?

- What new elements did you try out on Portals To Uphobia? In other words: what changed about Detonation's style?

- How is your drummer (Thomas if I recall corectly) dealing with his RSI? Is he getting better? How does he deal with it live?

To Centinex:

In 2003 you did a split vinyl release with Nunslaughter, do you guys have plans for any similar releases in the future?

Absu:

1. What are you currently up to? Are you planning a new album? How about side projects?

2. What do you think of the current black metal scene in the US and in Europe? What about the metal scene in general?

3. Could you tell us a little bit about your lyrical influences?

Epica :
What do you think about the current glut of goth metal bands? Is it a good thing, or the new nu-metal? Do you listen to a lot of it yourself/ves?

Grand Magus :
Your new album is much less 'doomier' than your past albums. Are you turning into a heavy metal band with doom influences, or is the DOOM still the main thing?

Kult Ov Azazel :
Why don't you spell it Cult Of Azazel? Do you think you'll get more people listening to your material by spelling it that way? Isn't there a danger of it becoming the nu l33t wai 2 spe11 kr13g m3ta1?

Witchcraft : (and Sheavy)
I feel that as a band you are better than Black Sabbath. What do you think of Ozzy as a modern man-on-TV, and of BS as a unit now? Should they give up and retire, or continue to play badly at festivals and embaress their past?

Sunn O))) :
Your new album is almost catchy compared to your past efforts. Will you ever be a doom band in the normal sense of the word, and how do you see yourselves and your (wonderful) music evolving?

Great new feature, keep up the good work guys! :D

I got coherent help (from Misha) on Detonation and that is the direction I am pursuing at the moment.

For Age of Silence if it ever is possible:

-Having various members also in Winds, Age of Silence has been called by many fans "the side project of a side project". Do you guys consider the band like that? Is there ever a chance to see Live shows of Age of Silence?

-(To Lazare) Please explain the main lyrical concept of your songs, as both albums (Acceleration and Complications) are obviously conceptual, could you please explain about the story depicted in the albums?

-(To Winter) Please comment on your future projects/musical endeavours, you seem to like to work on different projects periodically, if it is like that, would age of silence be releasing anything sometime soon? is there any ideas or songs written yet?

-Judging from your lyrics, would it be too stupid to ask if any of you is slightly technofobic or something like that? Or the lyrics are just predictions of a terrible future?

-(To Winter) You are known as an excellent lyricist for winds, knowing you wrote almost all the lyrics for winds albums, why did you choose to let Lazare handle all lyrical duties?

-On Acceleration, the intro to "Auditorium of Modern Movements" sounds really different than the rest of the album, very progressive and bizzare, the song then kicks into the usual style of age of silence. Why did you not try to do more parts like that on the albums to make it more varied? was it concious to write most of the music based on keyboards and keep the guitars/bass on a background basis?

Thats all I can think of for now, if it ever is possible to do an Age of Silence Interview please notify as I can come up with more questions later
