Oh man, what a classic this album...it still blows me away...truly!! One thing, It may seem strange, but one of the bonustracks on this album, a fine day to die, I just can't seem to get enough of this one...a killer song!! Strange it is a bonustrack...

It is a bonus track because it's a Bathory cover recorded after the album was released originally.

Do you mean Gypsy? Yes I have heard it, and as all Emperor stuff, it's excellent.

Gypsy is cool, but Ihsahn does a terrible King Diamond impression.

The finale of this album makes it so great. I love the momentum it builds throughtout the album before reaching another level on The Majesty of the Nightsky and then reaching a plateau few bands have ever seen with two of the all-time best black metal songs, I am the Black Wizards and Inno a Satana.

Plus the production was absolutely perfect for the style of music.

To me, all the songs on this album are perfect, all different enough to be memorable, and pretty fucking kick-arse at that.
Fave song at mo: Cosmic Keys...

I'd say Towards The Pantheon is fucking incredible. That's probably my favorite from the album by a hair; they are all masterpeices.

The other songs on the album are great too. I wasn't trying to discount them. Beyond the Vast Forest is great. So is Towards the Pantheon. So is Keys, and Infinity, and even The Burning Shadows. This album ages better than just about any other, because the songwriting is that good. But I feel listening through the whole album one gets a sense that something is building, and the climax is at the end of the album.

This album is so good that it will leave you cold, from start to finish... the mid section of Into The Infinity Of Thoughts is one of the most blood freezing arrangements in Metal history... it rolls in like fog, the enshrouded horn'd moon casting transient shadows upon the frozen tundra.
