I talked to Mike about the demand on making these albums classics and he was very kind and made the modifications. Thank you Mike.

I hope all you Black Metal freaks are happy now, I am :D .

Easily one of my top 3 favorite black metal albums. Thank you for finally making this(and the Ulver and Darkthrone albums) classics.

Being the author of the reviews in question, I feel I should put my shovel in.
ITNE received a perfect score, because it is, well, perfect.
Such frozen majestic darkness was as yet unheard at the time.
It was unlike anything else before and, for the most part, since.
Also, perfection was evident from the first note to the last, very rarely is that the case.
Only Xasthur (INFERNAL FUCKING HAILS!) in recent years has created such a dark and haunting atmosphere of malevolence.
On the "CLASSIC" categorization, yeah, it is a classic, but I was more interested in describing the music and conveying the message that this album is a 100/100, to those who have not had the chance to have this dark masterpeice grace their lives.
To be designated a CLASSIC, the minimum score, if I recall correctly is 90; it is more important that the message of perfection , opposed to STATUS of classic be put forth...
also when I wrote this review, I was unaware of the protocol, i.e vintage, consensus, etc...
Anyway, keep up the good work Daniel, I look forward to reading the Black Metal reviews every week.

I second every single word. This album, quite frankly, changed my life.
I would not have become the musician I am now hadn't I had the chance to hear this masterpiece, and chances are I might not have become a musician at all (whether this possibility would have made the world a better or a worse place is nto part of the discussion now ;) ).

Astonishing, in the best possible way. Eternal hails to the Almighty Emperor.

Hails, thanks for the welcome and the appreciation :D

Indeed, this album is among the ones which really opened my eyes upon Black Metal (which I already liked back then, but some records really opened the floodgates for me).

The debut of the band I'd like to call Best Band Ever. It's great, it's majestic, it's music that grabs you and never lets you go, at least, that's what happened to me :)

The Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor!

Ok some one just got done telling me that Cirith Ungol and Hirax suck. Can someone explain this to me. Is this person basing good music solely on production? Or is there some legitimate claim here that myself and many other fans of the afforementioned bands are missing?

you have every right to appreciate both Hirax & Cirith Ungol...

I don't judge records only by the quality of the production... I listen to it & my brain & heart decide if it's good or not... they told me Hirax & Cirith Ungol sucked...

PS : I have Cirith Ungol "King of The Dead"... it's not that bad musically (though not very good even) but the vocals are just awful !

The vocals give it the attitude that makes it so awesome...that and the Rush metal riffing. But you are entitled to your opinion.

Production is a vital thing in metal, if the production is good for example, the music probably is not.

I only just noticed that this got moved to the Classics section. About fucking time.

Anyway, this is my absolute favorite record of all time and I listen to it at least once a day. Emperor was a band unlike any other, and there will never again be an Emperor. Zamoth and Trym may fool around in Zyklon, and Ihsahn and Ihriel may make jazz/industrial/gothic/avantgarde/whatthefuckisthis music with Peccatum all they want, but nothing either of those parties release will ever top this album, or Anthems for that matter.
