I think Transilvanian Hunger is a lot more accesible than Nemesis Divina.

In my humble opinion, Both kinda suck.

As for black metal, try:

Taake - Nattestid
Nargaroth - Rasluka Part II
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger

For a start (in that order).

I don't recommend your recommendations. They are all fine, but they are not a good entry point for someone new to black metal. Nattens Madrigal is way too harsh to be third in that row, as is Transilvanian Hunger.

Satyricon is a very good recommendation though, as Nemesis Divina reminded me of Emperor here and there.

i agree with you on Ulver... Bergtatt would be a better start. And then i would exchange Nemesis Divina with Black Medieval Times :P
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora is not a bad album for starters either :P

here's those bands i started with, when i was new ( in no particular order):

Satyricon - Volcano: a rather lame start you might say  thank NRK 2 for that... i though it was very crappy back then, but now i do see some small details that makes it worth the while... but not overly great...
Blut Aus Nord - The works which transform god: yet another bad start, too weird for beginners :D
Emperor - In the nightside eclipse : okay start
Darkthrone - Hate Them : i would have appreciated Transylvanian hunger more...
Windir - "arntor" to "Likferd": loved that shit, not a bad start either
Dark Funeral's old shit : okay start, even though you'll find yourself to be hated later by black metallers...
Anaal Nathrakh - Domine Non Es Dignus : bad start too, i think :?
Immortal - Sons of Northen Darkness : meh... good place start also, i think... or rather.. perhaps it is, perhaps it's not... didn't like all that much back then...

i would say it doesn't matter where you start, as long you avoid all the crappy releases... of course my start wasn't filled with "history" or "classic" albums, but you will stumble upon those bands sooner or later...if you care that is...

i started with Transylvanian Hunger, and ill be honest, i thought it was the worst shit in the whole world. But now i love it, and i can pretty much listen to anything. I think you have to start with the classics, Burzum, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor....ect. Just avoid starting with Cradle of Filth, it will brainwash you.

The first proper Bm I ever heard was Noenum, and it was such a culture shock I immediately went out and bought the first BM I saw - Transilvanian Hunger. But I'm weird, I'd recommend starting with Dimmu, then Ulver's Bergtatt, then Arcturus or something, working your way in.

I haven't heard Dark Midieval times yet  but I agree with the Bergtatt swap...

The intro to this album is brilliantly melodramatic, but flawed by the synthed trumpet section, which always just sounds too fake. Otherwise, obviously a brilliant work. When struggling through an arctic blizzard you may see distant shapes, rocks, trees, animals, emerging from the snowstorm- So when listening to Anthems you can make out textures and melodies of great beauty fighting to be heard above a unbelievably dense rush of tremolo riffing.

Haha, a pretentious description, I know, but if any record deserves it, this does.

Great album, pales in comparison to Nightside IMO though.

I think ATTWAD is better. The melody is deeper, and the majestic feeling more driven.

Damn, I have to do a review of this!

With enough listens under my belt, ATTWAD just seems like a brilliantly complex and majestic album. Nightside is a journey into a castle.
