terrible band, boring album.

Screw these bands while real hardcore bands were toiling in their respective scenes, these douche bags had flags with their gay logo on these guys. Definitely one of the most overrated bands to ever walk the earth in the punk genre.

I was a huge Danzig fan once and at the height of it I couldn't get into this album myself. It really struck me as something that the familiarity of listening to it daily for a while would be it's only selling point. That or you would have to be really drunk.

First Misfits album I purchased, and I still love it. Static Age has better songs, but worse production .. this is a happy medium. Probably the one Misfits album I would take with me to an island.

Misfits indeed rule .. they were aiming for catchy underground punk and they nailed it.

A happy medium indeed. I don't think this is by far their best, but it has a perfect balance of melody, catchiness and guts in terms of passion and gore. Epic Halloween vibe to it all.

@Steve: It's fucking Halloween tomorrow and it took me a half hour to review the damn album given how familiar I am with it. Shut the fuck up. And seriously, Katy Perry is going to get so much more mention now in all my posts.

Yeah Static Age is better (yeah, I know it wasn't a proper release until much later).
Still, I prefer Samhain to Misfits.

I wouldn't call this "hardcore"... like Ramones, they are more a garage rock band (with horror themed lyrics; the first horror punk band, as it were).
I usually associate early hardcore with bands like Black Flag, Discharge, Bad Brains, etc.
