Better late than never. Thanks, and good review, Olivier.
All songs are pure magic, but Angel of death is one of my fav songs of all times... With White Witch and Angel Witch.

"Deliciously bittersweet" is the perfect line to describe this album. For having some classic anthemic NWOBHM tunes, the ability of this album to drop the somber riffs and bring on the doom is awesome.

Thanks for the kind words guys, good to know the review of this absolute classic was adequate enough.

Funny thing, I actually have several favourite songs on this albums, depending on what I seek. When I want something simple and catchy, it's Angel Witch (probably my second all-time most-listened track, behind maiden's Hallowed be thy Name). When I want something dark, it's Angel of Death. Something gloomy? Sorceress. A ballad? Free Man. Something silly? Sweet Danger.

I couldn't name a lot of albums like this. Albums in which you have several fav tracks, not because you like them all and you just can't choose, but because they all have something different to offer and all have a different way to blow your fucking mind away.

Damn, I should have written that.

Gave this album a more recent listen and yeah, it's still fucking amazing. I can't believe you opted to reject Gorgon as a killing track. I feel like it's a great chorus and some of those rolling drums, and it's just such an epic tale. I dig it.

This is such quintessential NWOBHM. Such a classic sound. It got me thinking. Could you chop up the melodies and riffs of this album and basically piece together Metallica's Kill 'em All? After just listening to Angel Witch, I was thinking you could. I think the only song that would be a problem to recreate is Whiplash. And that makes total sense. Whiplash is quintessential thrash. Anyways, that's what I was thinking about while stuck in traffic.

I said "maybe". Which also means I "may be" wrong. :)

Now as for the Kill 'em All thing, never thought of that... Some parts of No Remorse also sound hard to recreate with chops of Angel Witch though. The backing chorus riff, and the thrashier second part.

The guitarwork/guitar sound is great, "Angel of Death" is pretty badass. This is kind of awesome.

Does this imply you are just now familiarizing yourself with this album?

Of course. I never listened to much 70s/early 80s stuff beyond Sabbath/Maiden/Priest etc.

My tolerance level for short songs (like on this particular album) is usually really low, so I don't seek this type of stuff out unless everyone says it is brilliant.
