Yeah, I think this album is one of the last ones I'd start with if getting into the genre.

How about trying some newer Skepticism (a funeral doom band just as 'classic' as this one) and working your way back a bit into the more lo fi sounding stuff.

Agreed with the Emperor. I would also recommend Colosseum from Finland. I would imagine for some new to Funeral Doom they wouldn't be that difficult to get into and might be easier than Skepticism. Although Skepticism's music is so spiritual in nature that it would be a natural liking for someone leaning and discovering the Funeral Doom genre in general.

I knew a guy who used to play Theragathon and Anal Cunt to clear parties when he got sick of people.
