While others consider "Rust in Peace" Megadeth's Masterpiece, this album might even be better. A lot more commercial maybe, but damn, so addictive. The first song "Skin o' my teeth" kicks in so very hard, you forget any flaws this CD might have. I'd rate it 9/10.

I can't help but agree with the review. I swear by the title track myself, too.

(But how the hell did this end up number two on the lists, when it's this good?)

I'm a great fan of Megadeth but with this album I always had a complain about the sound. It sounds kind of too polished in my opinion.I think Mustaine himself has said something in the lines of "this was further processed by a computer to achieve the perfect sound". (In case someone might be wondering I have the original cd not mp3's) . For me Youthanasia has the perfect Megadeth production although the songs here are somewhat better yet not as diverse as in Youthanasia. Oh well.. every Megadeth album rules except Risk that is.

A pretty good CD, but "Rust in Peace", "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?", "So Far, So Good, So What?," "Killing is my Business... And Business is Good!" and Youthanasia all beat it out. The only truly amazing song on here is Ashes in Your Mouth, while the rest are mainly fun little simplistic songs to listen to once in a while.

I must say, I think that all of the albums the last guy posted are overrated. Countdown to Extinction is easily Megadeth's most complete album. The sound of it is fantastic, the songwriting is stronger than ever before, and the band is tight as can be. Megadeth's early works are good but always suffered from production or weak songwriting (I believe only 3 or so songs on Rust in Piece were very good). This was the high point in Megadeth's career.

This used to be my favorite Mega album, but I was younger than. Also this was the first one I bought myself, the first being Peace Sells which I promptly stole from a poser who didnt appreciate it. Peace sells scared me at first, so Countdown, being less scary and less awesome as it were, became my favorite. I now see it as one of the many mediocre albums from a mediocre band. Nuff said, listen to some Deathrow and forget about Mega-shit.

Megadeth have many amazing and unique songs, but unfortunately they also have a shitload of filler material--songs that range from average to crap.
