Great album, but even though I hate all major pop culture awards shows (grammy's vma's etc.) I still don't think a bunch of old guys with pan flutes should have beaten out Metallica that year.

True, but then we don't care, so it doesn't matter. :P

Well, I only care if it made Metallica dumb enough to think abandoning the And Justice for All sound was a good idea.

 Never thought about it that way.

Like the title track but the rest is pretty weak.

Ha I never thought of that either, if that has any mote of truth it would be both sad and hilarious...anyway, back on topic, I only really know the title track from this album, which I enjoy, but I prefer Thick as a Brick and Songs From the Wood personally. Still, Tull are (were) kickass, and I'll always respect them for their uniqueness and their willingness (at least in the 70s) to say "fuck you critics, we're gonna do what we want" and produce a prog masterpiece IRONICALLY. Classic.

And there's nothing quite like busting out an air flute solo

Cross-Eyed Mary is quite the rockin tune. Great album, Great Band. I'm quite glad they defeated Metallica at the awards show as I've always hated those prima donna bastards. Tis fitting that they should be smitten by the likes of a flute.

Strong and classic effort, all the way through.

Great album. I grew up with this.
Well done, and it's nice to see some true classics get their due.

My favorite Jethro Tull album by far. I had a friend who loved Jethro Tull but rated this as one of their WORST. Surprises me really, this is such a great effort. The deluxe edition with the bonus tracks that makes the album twice as long is magnificent as well.

A great, dark album from the early '70s and actually some of the first music I ever heard, having been given a record copy by my dad when I was 4. I was always fascinated with that album cover.

A great album.
An even greater one in its 40th anniversary remix where the muddy sound is gone and everything's brighter and more powerful.
