Thanks for the review. Certainly worthy of the 'classic' designation, and agreed, a large influence on the brilliant Moonsorrow.

The first track is one of those singular moments in the Norwegian scene when the people behind demonstrated the tremendous compositional talent many of them possessed. Still, it should not overshadow the rest of the album which maintains a warmer feel than Frost (good point in your review) but warmer doesn't necessarily mean less atmospheric or eerie.

I agree this is a classic!

793 (Slaget Om Lindisfarne) & Hordalendingen are two of my favorite songs from Enslaved.

but album Frost is nearly good enough to this one.

Ah I love this album, definitely my favorite from Enslaved. Its a shame these guys aren't on top of the metal world.
