Ohh! Good review, there. Being a major proghead, Hawkwind is inevitable. Personally, I got into them with Levitation so that remains my favorite but their earlier stuff is also essential. :dio:

You named a few artists that had Hawkwind as musical influenceand there's also a lot that have them in much more obvious ways, especially in the prog realm like A.A. Lucassen, for example. The man plays his space metal perfectly but people seem to forget he didn't quite invent the genre. :P

One of the first Hawkwind albums I ever purchased. Took me a while to get into it and over time it has found a place on the MP3 player. I also think Levitation, Warrior On The Edge of Time, PXR5 and Hall of the Mountain Grill are some of their best out of everything they have done. Also check out Live Chronicles and Chronicle of the Black Sword.

Yes, those are both excellent. The nice thing about Hawkwind is most of their studio albums from any decade have much to enjoy. Live Chronicles, of course, is one of their best live albums (and since there are so many, you got to be careful what you pick up since many aren't that great of quality or are merely redundant).

My favorite studio album is actually It Is the Business of the Future to Be Dangerous...quite different, particularly the emphasis on electronic music, but it's always been a favorite for me. Of the early stuff, I think I prefer Hall of the Mountain Grill the most.

I picked this up recently and I decidedly like this a lot better than the one other Hawkwind release I have, namely Canterbury Fayre. But where to go from here in their discography? There's a mind-boggling amount of releases and I'm just interested in the essentials. Stuff that leans close to Doremi Fasol Latido. Please assist!

A lot? I'm not that au fait with the Hawklords, but Warrior On The Edge Of Time is another good 'un.
