Who actually wrote the music on this album? All I ever seem to hear is Patton .. give the other guys some credit!

This band is meh, their most popular song is a cover, and Mike Patton is not very good.

He's better than Alvin and the Chipmunks, who happen to sing in The Mars Volta.

Anywho, I've only heard one song from this album, and that's the aforementioned cover -- but based on the sheer influence of this album (and the sound I'm familiar with on Angel Dust), I can safely say that this is deserving of its Classic status.

Craziness. Epic is a cover? Mike Patton is awesome.

Octo, listen to this. More straightforward and easier to "get" than AD, but very good stuff.

Is my fav FNM, because I'm emotional tied to this (ok, Angel dust is better, but it can't chill my nerves as this one). Zombie eaters is a fucking masterpiece, and my favourite song of them. But rest of the album is awesome.

A fucking awesome album. I've never really endeared myself to any of their other stuff so this remains my personal favorite. I don't think what they do is tremendously groundbreaking or different but everything is just done so well.

I've got Angel Dust, but I haven't heard this one yet, except for the occasional song. The only songs I know of this album are Epic (deuh!) and From Out of Nowhere. I love them both, so I can't imagine the rest to be bad.
Saw these guys live at pukkelpop and I must say they've still got it.

Untrue. However, for the sake of keeping the thread on its rails, I shall refrain from delving into the topic.

The point of the matter is that Mike Patton's voice does not grate on my nerves, whereas Nop Cedric's does. Therefore, Mike Patton is the superior singer, making Faith No More the superior band.

I am never going to refer to him as anything other than "Nop Cedric" again. And I like his voice. But he is completely different from Lord Patton, as much as Bruce Dickinson is, so silly comparison.

I wouldn't call Nop Cedric's voice homosexual, rather girly. I like his singing nonetheless, as much as I like Mike Patton's. But yeah, quite a silly comparison.

Cedric has a wonderful voice.

So does Mike Patton.

It's a close call as to who's better. If this was still in the FNM and Mr. Bungle days, Patton would probably win, however it seems like these days Mike Patton doesn't seem to do much more than burp, fart, and make weird noises into the mic simply for the sake of burping, farting, and making weird noises.

Cedric still sings, and he's still wonderful at it. So as of now, I'd probably have to say Cedric.

---

Faith No More is such a great band. I still need this album. I'll get it some day.

Ah, so easily distracted from the topic at hand...whether "Nop Cedric" is a better singer than Mike Patton is not only a pointless comparison, but also a totally irrelevant one when discussing the classic status of this fantastic album. The first three tracks are killer, but one can only listen to them so many times; however, i find 'Surprise! You're Dead!' and 'Zombie Eaters' to have better lastability, and 'War Pigs' is one of the better covers I've heard (in the mainstream world at least) (and the 'Nativity In Black' live version is even better imo). I admit to not being all that familiar with the rest of the tracks present, but what I do remember tells me that this is well worthy of being anointed a classic. Looking forward to seeing these guys in March down under!

Also @Goat, I would imagine that noodles was referring to 'War Pigs' or 'Easy', erroneously it must be said, as indeed, 'Epic' is easily their most popular (and overplayed, however good it may be) song.
