Maybe the best album Black Sabbath has ever made. It simply hasn't any flaws. Dio's voice is perfect, the riffs and solos are stunning and all songs are catchy as hell! Listen to the slow and melancholic "Lonely is the Word" and you'll know what I mean. Almost perfect: I'd rate it 9/10.

I agree. I much prefer the Dio-era Black Sabbath Cds. Actually, Mob Rules may be one of my favorite Metal albums of the 80's....it has such a mystical, dark atmosphere. Killer stuff!

Well, this album is one of their best performance, fine work ,besides i prefer Dio ,and most of all Gillan voice in Black Sabbath then Ozzy, that is true essence of this music, the emblem of Sabbath's era,
although 'Heaven and Hell' isn't so strong as 'Mob Rules' but i think it is more expressive, more classic and better arranged, very important thing in world's music for me.

WTF? Children of the Sea is not a killer song? What about Wishing Well and Die Young? They are fucking awesome.

IMHO, one of the greatest albums ever made! Black Sabbath with Dio is just awesome and this album is when they were more inspired I think.

Sorry for not being on topic there. This album is a classic, to me. Dio is overlooked to be sure. The band is just great and were in true form for this recording.

Its the album cover for Overkill's The Years of Decay.

And yes, this kicks anything Sabbath had done up to this point's ass (well, Sabatoge was pretty good too). This is where they really got their shit together and finally got rid of the plague known as Ozzy and came in with the God known as Dio.

Disagreed. Ozzy has always been a weak vocalist, and the songwriting isn't that great on the majority of the first couple of albums, till Sabotage. Then after that, they were shitty till Dio came, and their quality really picked up after that.

I agree with your arguments, but imo there are many masterpieces done without great songwriting skills and without technical skills;for example Ace of Spades -the songwriting ain't that great ,Lemmy isn't the best vocalist 'but he's Lemmy! You know what i mean? Feeling and attitude!!!! The same goes for -Pleasure to kill- everything is bad technically speaking, but it kills!!

I believe you're very much into thrash metal;can you advise mesome good thrash metal albums;there are some i' don't know yet like Bonded by Blood or Darkness Descends, tell me about them! :D

anyways, the fact remains Ozzy is Black Sabbath's Legendary singer, that the first Black Sabbath albums gave birth to Heavy Metal and that Black Sabbath with Ozzy will play stadiums while Dio is in stuck in the medium-sized venues... he's a great singer but, if you ask me, his try achievement was with Rainbow, not with Black Sabbath... :P

get their first live album then.... On Stage... it's the best of both firsts albums + godly improvisations + a Purple song.... a perfect package !

if you're looking for the stuff Yngwie hasn't digested yet, go with Difficult to Cure... Joe Lynn Turner sings on this more mainstream Rainbow album and that still has killer tunes as Spotlight Kid... actually, you'll get the original version of Malmsteen's Trilogy album... so much better though... :P

and please, make sure to avoid Down to Earth which features the atrocious Graham Bonnet singing like a pig sent to the slaughter and partly out of tune, no wonder Ritchie got rid off him so quickly !!!

Usually i'm not very fund of live albums;i prefer to discover first the 2 studio albums with Dio(st and Long Live...).

I suppose you don't really like JLT.I've seen somewhere you don't like Slaves & Masters.Btw, i'm not into Malmsteen,i only have his first album with JSS singing on 2 songs. You know a bit the others?

How come G Bonnet is so bad,i've red many praises about him!

I'm just like you... but trust me with this one... it's up to The Who's Live at Leeds or Made In Japan / Made in Europe by Deep Purple... only with a richer musical environment... :D

I dislike Masters & Slaves because Deep Purple should never try to sound like Rainbow ! this album has proven me right since it's DP's worst album with Bananas which is just saaaaad ! :(

on Yngwie's discography, you already have the best one ! though, you can try Trilogy (with JSS) and Odyssey (with JLT... I think I mistaked the album titles earlier  ) which are fine albums before he got fat & bored & lived in Florida... (the largest retirement camp in the universe... how can this be rock'n'roll ? :P )

Graham Bonnet did wrong with MSG, wrong with RAINBOW, wrong with his band ALCATRAZZ (which featured Steve Vai then Yngwie) and got a little better with Impellitteri... I guess the guy got pretty lucky and had good friends in the business... now, he doesn't do much anymore... but since there are so many good singers who would bother taking that old detuned old beard out of his rotten closet ? well, I'm sure some Mr like Mike Varney is still trying to get a few bucks out of Graham's old fame....

I think it's Marching Out the 2nd one with JSS,and Trilogy must be with someone else on vocals.Btw,what's wrong with Bananas?
Do you mean the Rainbow albums with JLT sound like Slaves and Masters?

Bananas is wrong because John Lord isn't there, Ritchie isn't there and the brains of the three remaining seems to have weaken to the point the sound like Status Quo in the 90's (which is by no means a compliment)

and Slaves & Masters only tries to sound like a Rainbow album or at least did Ritchie tried to pull the band this way... it's the album failure 'cause, as strange as it might seem, DP doesn't mix with Rainbow so well... :?
