One of the best Brutal Death Metal albums ever created... The top of their career.

Nice review Zad. Well deserved classic status.

Amazing review. I've been reading a lot of bad things about this album lately, mainly because of the advent of the samples from their new album, wondering how any self respecting death metal fan can say this is anything but brilliant.

The quintessential death metal album. Lord Worm's vocals are fucking inhuman, and of course, irreplaceable.

It's sad, though. They're but a shell of their former selves.

100/100.

It's funny. I love Cryptopsy (#1 most played band on last.fm), and I love None So Vile, but my favourite album by far is Once Was Not. I think I'm the only Cryptopsy fan in that camp, but them's the breaks.

Fantastic album nonetheless. RIP Cryptopsy, you were true death metal heroes.

An all round FUBAR is this album. No-one does gutteral like Lord Worm. This is crazy shit. An album for the ages where insanity reigns, and chaos is the order of things.
Still disturbing after all these years. This is brutal times (well what is that line in Team America) 1000, "who knows what that is". I think I might just put in on now.
Ah, groooooaarrrrrr, groooooaaaarrrr, ugh, ugh, ughhhhh......, weedle, weedle, tatatatatatatatatat, (really fast) and the occasional slapetty thaank...

Easily one of the Greatest albums to grace us metalheads. This is the album that every metal band dreams of making. If you dont have this in your collection do yourself a favor....get it.

Hail Cryptopsy, we have so many great metal bands here in Quebec even though most of them will always stay underground, Cryptopsy have showed the world what a bunch of maniacs from Montreal can do when you give them the chance. None so Vile is a killer, best death metal album ever.

Easily their best album and one of the best in the genre. Looking back to it and then to the new The Unspoken King makes me wonder what the hell went wrong...

I'm listening to this right now for the first time, and holy sodomized Jesus is this ripping my face off. I've heard a lot of death metal, but this is fucking BRUTAL!

Lord Worm is SICK. Not to mention it's one of the best monikers ever. :dio: :dio: :dio:

+1, it pulverized me, and I thought after hearing stuff like The Berzerker, Napalm Death and Cock and Ball Torture, I didn't think I could here anything surprise me with sheer brutality any more.

Also, the more you hear it, the more awesome it gets.

This blows me away every time I hear it. Every song is a winner, with Slit Your Guts, Graves Of The Fathers, Phobophile, and Orgiastic Disembowelment standing slightly above the others.

Far and away my favourite death metal album.
