Absofruitly this is a classic. Every song from start to finish is perfect. And yes, Kiske is the best vocalist on the planet, then and now.

No. Way.

This time, I'll unfortunately have to attract the flames and crash the party.

Although I completely give Helloween what they have and do respect the influencial musical work of the two Keeper albums... I'll have to be the one to say I can't stand Kiske's voice. Everytime he goes up in octaves, I feel my brain imploding. Seriously though... I like a lot of power but I just hate the guy's vocals.

Doesn't change the fact the two albums have classic tunes (I'm Alive, Future World, I Want Out, Eagle Fly Free...) but I can't listen to the originals without cringing at the vocals. That said... Kiske is far from being the worst...

*starts naming a slew of crappy Italian power metal bands*

Kiske isn't bad at all.. far from it, but he tends to get to nasal for my taste too often. I can see why people think he is great. However, he is not the best at all... Have to disagree with ya there Nessie.

I really don't care for his voice in this one either, not to the point that it stops me from enjoying the songs though. I just think he was kind of whiny. With that said, I think he's an amazing singer in the present, and his work on Avantasia really boosts the quality of the album.

You really think so? I guess it's just me being wired wrong, then.

I find his voice completely ruins Silver Maiden. But like Thomas said, I can understand how people think he's amazing... it's just me hating his high-pitch crystalline voice. I personally found Amanda Somerville's version of Silver Maiden to be much more fitting... but don't listen to me, I'm biased towards good female singers, haha.

Edit: Just realized I read that wrong! Silver Maiden is from Aina, not Avantasia. My bad! Still don't like his voice, though.

Oh no 'NESS, you're not alone on this one. BIG LOVE here for Kiske... His voice was,is and will always be there with the greats like Tony Martin, Bruce, Dio, Tate, Freddy. Nowadays there are also great singers (italian also hehe ... the incredible Michele Luppi, Sir Russel Allen and others) but Kiske was (is) a landmark. It's incredible how good his voice is preserved (Past In Different Ways)... So way to go KISKE

This is a good album, but K2 is better. I'd give this 89.

While I like his work on the Keeper albums, I really think he has lost his power nowadays, especially on the newest Avantasia. Although, I do gotta say, "Future World" will never sound as amazing as it once did... despite Andi being a great singer.
Personally I prefer this one over the next, but they are both great. I think part 2 is a bit more varied with more different kinds of songs, while part 1 is a bit more consistent with every track being very strong.
