Check out those two albums I mentioned.

I had the pleasure of seeing Alice Cooper live in about 2004 or 2005- awesome stuff.

One cool thing about getting into music in 1992 was that a lot of stuff was played on radio/music tv ala Rage be it Glam Metal, the softer elements of Thrash or Grunge/Alternarock. So as a youngster you could find out about cool bands by merely turning on the box/radio.

Though by about 1995 it was all kinda dead.

Lucky internet came to save us!

Skid Row, I have a hard time putting into the glam category as well. It's a genre that has its moments like any others, maybe less than most but not a complete waste.

it's not something I have any interest in to be honest, probably won't ever understand the appeal of glam

Dave Mustaine is fucking meathead born-again bigot homophobe wanker who should, without exception, shut his mouth and just play his guitar.

100% agree with all the stuff I've quoted here. Sick, Sick bunch of bands right there. The other two you mentioned I can't comment on because I'm not especially familiar with them.

Guns N' Roses fucking ruled back in the day. Fuck the haters.

If this doesn't kickstart your heart, then I don't know why you even listen to metal, sir: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb95jqsYTm0

Early Motley Crue was pretty heavy for its day. I mean you didn't really have extreme metal in 1981!

It's much like other genres that became commercial (Thrash/Grunge/Groove Metal/Funk Metal etc) - the originators have street cred and grit and as the genre becomes more acceptable, you get more polished, mainstream orientated acts while originators tone down their sound to get more mainstream appeal.

Early Crue kicks ass, perfect tunes for driving fast... I just never could get into GnR, though. Always thought L.A. Guns were better.

Skid Row has a few badass tracks, as well.
I'll even go a step further (haha, why not) and say that Ratt's ep has some choice tunes on it (Sweet Cheater, U Got It, Back For More), too.

Good music is good music, who gives a ripe fuck what it's labelled?

Or practically anything (with the exception of the title track) off of Too Fast or Shout At The Devil.

And there's always WASP with Animal (Fuck Like A Beast).

Al Gore's wife, Tipper Gore waged war on Heavy Metal because of that song.

This is where the Hook In Mouth song by Megadeth comes from ("as long as there's a PMRC"). PMRC was Tipper's little pet anti-metal/rap lobby group. It stood for Parental Music Resource Centre.

And then another bizarre 1980s heavy/glam metal fact - the US military blared Twisted Sister at the Vatican embassy in Panama to try to get dictator General Noriega to surrender.

It's funny that Glam bands caused more controversy and shocked more people in the 1980s then your average porno/gore grind/DM band ever could.

I could care less what the label is I don't enjoy the music produced by bands like twisted sister or motley crue and if I don't like something I see no reason to listen to it

it's nothing against those who do like the stuff or the bands who make it just attribute it to my own tastes in music

For the most part all that "hair metal" crap is lame. The exceptions are very few, early Crue, maybe the first Dokken, LA Guns, etc.

Bands like Cinderella, Poison, Vixen, Extreme, Danger Danger, fucking Nelson  etc. I never had any use for.

Early Twisted Sister and Motley Crue wasn't bad at all.
