Images and Words is really good... maybe one of the top 3 best prog metal albums around...

The instrumental part in the middle of Metropolis Part I is legendary...

Images and Words is a masterpiece, but I always liked Metropolis Pt. 2: SFAM better.

"Images and Words" is the only album of DT I have heard in my life till now. I knew about it a long time ago, even before I start to listen to other kind of metal. But I must admit that at the beginning, it took me some time (but not THAT MUCH) to get used to the voice of the singer. I didn't like it straight. Now, I really can say that he has an INCREDIBLE voice, really pure and ALL ALL ALL ALL the songs on this album ARE GREAT !!!!!! My 3 favourite ones are: Pull Me Under, Another Day and Surrounded. Soooooooo gooood !!!! This album will always impress me very much !!! But I'm a bit curious to discover the other ones too...Probably the next one will be "Awake"...as most of you suggested me !!! (Thanks !) :)

This is the only DT album that i like, but i think Labrie is a great singer, his work on Ayreon - the human equation,is awesome.

I can't believe i haven't posted on this thread before seeing as I&W is one of my favorite albums. Like several people have said all the songs kick major ass. Labrie fucking owns on this album. I think my favorite song on here( damn hard to pick) is Take the Time. It's simply brilliant and Labrie has some amazing vocal lines on it.

Oh...because he sang on other projects too ??!!!!! (You see, I don't check EVERYTHING about bands in general...For this part too, I have a lot more to learn...) I already heard "Ayreon" once because a friend was listening to that (don't know which album though), but I really don't remember how it sounds like...

well i like Ayreon better than DT,but take that from a guy that doesnt like DT,if you wanna try an Ayreon album try The Human Equation, dont listen to samples tough, you need to listen to it as whole to get the full experience.

Ok, I've been trying really hard to get into this album lately, and I must say that is is a good album, still way overrated, but far better than the other DT albums I've heard. There are actually some awesome songs on here, my 3 favorites are Surrounded, Pull me Under and Metropolis (DT's best epic by far). I would love to see DT make an album full of accessible, but still technical and varied songs like Surrounded. If they did that, I would probably end up worshipping them as much as many other metal fans do...

I absolutely adore this cd, brilliant, but i like 'Train of Thought' better. However this is still one of my favourites especially 'Pull Me Under', which I'm surprised wasn't a hit.

You can tell how much I think about this album and this band in particular when my first post is based on this band. Images and Words is imo their best album to date. It is the influence of so many progressive bands after it and one of the best progressive albums ever. This album is best, followed closely by awake and WADADU. All 3 of these albums are very different but I like them nonetheless.
The only real complaint with DT even though I like every album exept Falling into Infinity is that DT shines during instrumental sections of songs for the most part. This was magnified on the liquid tension relieses, which imo are epic.
To sum up, I agree this album is a clasic.
