I thought this was enjoyable, but kind of short.
Oh and i never could really get into Genevieve and their black metal era.

I appreciate your review Misha but it's no surprise that I have an irrational hatred of this band. But I did enjoy Hawkwind when I heard it a few weeks ago, so maybe I'm not all bad.

Like I said in the review, this is one long track cut into 9 pieces ;) But I take back the long track thing nontheless. Although I still think a continueing track is best to keep a mood intact, I think it's generally satisfying if a mood consists throughout different songs. Of course that's only when moods matter, which is not in every form of music. Add to it that some songs have a very powerful ambience that can be cast in a minutes and you see the reason why I take back my old statement.

Never heard anything by this band, but another week goes by and Misha is the only one not reviewing melodeath or power metal or hard rock......

Where is the extreme metal?!?!?!?!??!!

I simply loved Genevieve and even though this one is radically different I've been meaning to check it out for quite a while. What I really liked in Genevieve was not the black part as much as the delirious atmosphere. I trust that this one is marked by that as well.

It is an interesting record. Definitely worth a listen. I'm not sure it's quite substantial enough to get a high score though after one listen. It's like a small collection of nice musical snippets, that flows together to form excellent background music.

Awesome album, one of my favorites. This stuff is the kind of thing you wanna sleep to, but can't close your eyes because you don't wanna leave that lush, sweet noise behind... Really awesome stuff. Wonder what their latest demo/EP sounds like... Hopefully, cool.

- Magnificent! -

Yet you can replace that by a saloon, jazz club might confuse, as this is not jazz.

... double " meeeh"... what is this Mies?!?... i mean... the woman on the piano sounds like she have been drug addicted a bit too long, her piano skills are just horrible - i used to play similar spontaneous tunes on our piano as child... this is nothing speciel, many ppl play this kind of music... many would leave the cow out that was used on the first track though... but they do have some good ideas at times, just no skills to execute them probably... and plz.. 13 min is too short with this kind of music!!!

give Norra Jones a shot of heroin, and viola! .. you have Velvet Cacoon!!

Just because their name is VC and they used to play Black Metal doesn't make this a piece of art  anybody could have done this, ha ha

ha ha  .. i'm sure she would if you gave her heroin straight in the eye... nobody wants to write music for junkies :D

( you are not fair... if i remember correctly she actually did write 15 % on her own - lyrics and such)

So you are saying that playing the black metal you love requires a lot of talent?

I listened to this one a long while ago, and I quite enjoyed it. I think I'll spin it again this week to refresh my memory.
